Dr. Briggs is inspirational and desperately desires to see her students care about the world around them. She is extremely helpful and provides good feedback. Because her expectations are high, she demands a lot of class participation. For her, high participation demonstrates that students care. A low participating class will incur her wrath!

Susan is an amazing teacher! Yes, she is a tough marker but she really cares and pushes you to do your best work. Her class is interesting and entertaining; you learn more then just reading and writing. When your in her class you can basically speak your mind, but be prepared for some fun opinionated debates. YOU MUST TAKE HER CLASS!

Definitely don't expect this course to be easy or that by doing nothing you'll somehow pull an A out of your butt. She is first of all HILARIOUS and so warming so coming to class is always fun. She's a hard marker, but has faith in all her students. If you show improvementseffort, your marks will go up. I was at a C- at the start, ended with a B+.

Briggs is a great teacher. Like what other people have said, don't take her if you don't intend to put in the work in order to improve your writing. She's a hard marker but later in the course, you'll see your grades improve because you've learned a lot.

She is a very hard marker for essays and assignments, but if you put in the effort in reading her story package and actually try your best in her essays, you can get above a C+. Briggs is a real eye opener - she got me interested in politics and made me a better writer. Do not take her class if you do not intend on improving.

Awesome teacher. Very helpful and passionate about the topics she talks about. I learned so much in her class. A bit of a tough marker, but i'm only a first year college student and I made it through with a decent grade.

She is an amazing teacher, funny, and will help you as long as you ask and put in the effort. Tough marker, but she is fair and is only helping you become better than you are. English 1107 was a great class with Susan and by far the best teacher I have had so far.

Always late on handing back stuff. For Classical & Bibblical Studies which has no prereq., she markes papers as if you have should have studied English for years. Very hard marker. Pics favorites, rude,not a very understanding person and is hypocritical.

She did not accept my transferred Academic Writing course it as an equivalent, because according to her, we did not cover Academic Writing ("in the true sense") in enough depth to warrant an equivalency. I folded and took the course. I learned nothing new & aced every single essay simply by NOT doing what she said. Abrasive woman.

What a waste of tuition. I learned nothing from her stupid english class. The course is called "Academic Writing" not f'n "Urban Design". This teacher is mean, rude, disrespectful, and unmotivating. I guess people were right. I will stay away from this witch.

The person below is dead on. Don't expect anything over a C+/C. Don't take this awful teacher. I dropped her course within the first hour of the first class. Take Roger Clark, Diane Stiles, or Wilhelm Emilsson, they know how to teach and you'll do well with minimal effort. Plus you'll learn a lot of writing methods.

Tough class, lots of writing and re-writing and dry readings, her sense of humor helps to lighten things up. The walk that you do in Vancouver was a good break. I was so glad that class was over. As a prof. she is so open to help always, she wants you to do better than when you started, and yes she does mark tough...but you learn!!
