Comment:

I was very interested in the subject matter of this course (fiction writing) before taking it, and the experience only made me more passionate. Kenney did a good job of allowing everyone to bring their thoughts into the discussion and was always willing to help people outside of class. She does have an acerbic wit, but it's all in good fun.

Comment:

Don't let her bag-lady "costume" on the first class throw you - that's what she usually wears to class. She's very liberal with criticism and very sparse with her encouragement. Her exercises aren't very helpful in terms of teasing out original or creative thoughts. To be honest, I wish I had taken Art History instead.

Awful. Classes were so boring. Students stopped listening to her because her advice was so utterly unhelpful. Completely disoragnized. Makes you do tons of workbook work. Choose someone else.

I took a fiction workshop with Professor Kenney, and I consistently had the feeling that she would rather be somewhere besides in the classroom reading students' stories. Not a professor to go to if you're looking for constructive criticism.

I had this professor for EN278, (Creative Writing) and throughout the semester she stayed aloof, bitter, sarcastic, and at times scathingly critical with students. I love writing but she did not make things fun. My advice: try another professor.
