Comment:
Dr. Rouse is a really sweet lady, but its the end of finals and I still have NO idea what my grade is. She has given tons of reading analysis assignments and has not posted a grade for any of them. I felt like I didnt need to go in for over half of the classes. Also the homework was fairly unorganized and I barely know when things were due.

I was one of the only kids in class that participated, so I don't know how the other students did, but for me this was super easy. Prep yourself a little on the philosophers before class and look up the reading passages online and you'll never look at this book. If you're taking this because you want to major in philosophy however, look elsewhere

Good teacher but a little hard to please when it comes to papers, fairly generous with partial credit on exams.

She could use a lot of work in lecturing (very hard to follow). She will shut you down if you pose an argument to the information presented by the various philosophers. She uses simple-minded concepts that don't hold up to the most basic scrutiny. After my rant, I will turn to the more positive sides; she gives participation credit & no homework.

I asked her about my grade on one pf my papers and she told me "You're just not a philosopher". Honestly, rewrite her opinion back to her in your papers and you'll be golden.

As a black and white thinker philosophy isn't really my favorite topic, despite that my experience with the class was alright. The class is graded by 3 essays and a few participation grades. Shes a lenient grader and if she sees you understand the topic shell grade you well. The lectures are hit or miss, interesting wise. overall a decent class.

Dr. Rouse knows her material and gets her point across very well. The tests were essay that you could do at home and had a due date into dropbox. The assignments were helpful in preparing for the tests. I would take this professor again in a heartbeat. Good upper level elective, especially if you like philosophy.

I had Dr. Rouse for American Philosophy during my last semester at KSU. While she seemed very adapt at generating class discussion, I don't believe she truly knows how to lecture. Her discussions were often one sided. She was not clear on what the required readings were. Often the reading material was very mundane and boring. This was not ideal!

I've taken Dr. Rouse twice, and I would do so again. She's not a conventional lecturer, preferring to teach via Q&A sessions (she asks, you answer), but if you can write a decent paper you should make an easy A. Exams are take-home essays. She does come across as a know-it-all sometimes, but she was certainly not "hostile" to me or to anyone else.

shes awful, makes dramatically errors speaking and writing in class then complains about students doing the same. says that you miss the point in a paper then says she didn't read those sections that clearly when someone says something in class. worst teacher at an others great school.

Grades are: 4 reading summaries, and 3 exams. If you show that you READ the material, then making at least a B on the summaries is easy. Two of the four exams were online, therefore good exam clarity. Bottom line: if you show that you understand the main points of the material, and can write a college level paper, then you will do well in 3020

Rouse is pretty amusing, & I enjoyed her teaching style. She's not the most exciting professor, but I learned quite a bit from her. My only complaint concerns her grading system: I received grades ranging from As to Cs, and have no idea why I received them. Some papers received no comments or tips for improvement, & asking her didn't help.

I didn't care for her condescending personality nor her redundant, interrogative style of teaching. Attendance policy (you can only miss two classes) was ridiculous, especially since nothing we learned was particularly relevant. She also thinks she knows everything about metro Atlanta and she's not even from the area.

Dr. Rouse is a great professor, but her teaching style is different. Rather than just lecturing, she will usually ask the class a series of questions and whatever answers she receives she "teaches" the material by using those answers. This makes it difficult to take notes because you never know what is important and what's not.

Try your best to avoid this professor. She grades your papers harshly and she is a nightmare to listen to. She will often not reach her point or will spend 3/4 of the class getting to it. Avoid her if you can.

This teacher is a complete space cadet. The syllabus changes from minute to minute. She goes completely off topic, to topics not even relevant for the exams. Lectures are horribly boring. Grades papers hard. Exams are open book and all essay but you can choose from several questions to answer. Takes forever to get grades back

Rouse is very knowledgeable on her subject and does her best to make dry readings interesting and relative. Class participation is a must to stay focused and understand the material. Bringing a laptop to wiki other philosophers saved me. She assumes you have a detailed background on ancient philosophers.
