WARNING! His classes are NOT english or american studies! Take them only if you are interested in music! He heaps on work and expects it to all be done. grades fairly, but all tests are fill in the blank. Lectures are pretty much straight from the book. you'll need to pretty much memorize all music that he gives you. It's a trap!

So boring. Will put you to sleep. I thought I'd enjoy this class as a free elective, huge mistake. There is more work for this class alone then all of my other classes. Multiple papers, that are graded way too harshly, all tests are fill in the blank. 5 expensive books and CDs. Many of the books only used once. Class Is a waste of time and money.

Completely caught off guard that this ENGLISH class--20th Century American Literature--was really just a music class.

How does "the blues" qualify for "20th Century American Literature? This is a music class--not lit! Requires three texts (one exceedingly heavy)and CDs costing almost $100. Plays music at deafening volume--brings a boom-box to class! Acts impatient if you ask a question. Unwilling to reschedule an exam. He is past his prime--too boring for words.

This class seemed pretty pointless. It's great that he's so passionate about the topic, but he expects all of us to be experts as well. I'm an English major, so the writing, while intensive, was nothing more than I'm used to. I hope you do well on exams with fill in the blanks, because they're all like that, along with essays. Overall, pointless.

His lectures are scattered and rambling, but if you listen he spells out exactly what will be on the tests. This class had heavy reading and writing, but I really got something out of it. He was very willing to answer questions outside of class and passionate about the subject matter.

Fay is a great professor. He tells you exactly what to study. He allows you to miss up to five classes, and hes very willing to reschedule missed exams and work around your schedule if you are courteous and timely about it. Overall he is one of my favorite professors. I've had him four times.

Intro to Lit: Not a very personal professor, but I got a lot out of this class. He is a stickler for MLA! He also grades harshly on writing assignments, so pay close attention to those. He offers extra credit in the way of completing extra assignments (email assignments) so do EVERY SINGLE one!

Very detailed orientated...not a hard class, but you do have a lot of work. Multiple choice portions of exams were pretty easy, but definitely have to prepare a good essay outside of class. One seven page research paper in which he is very strict on MLA format. Does give extra credit opportunities, but doesn't encourage much class participation.

Easiest A ever, and that was in the summer, too. As long as you do the required work (and they are all the same for all sections for all teachers) then you will do just fine. He is eager to help out, although I do agree with the other posters that say he babbles on a bit.

Nice guy. I found the research paper to be more like busy work at this point in my academics. I enjoyed most of the readings. The lectures wander a bit, but were fairly engaging. I had it early in the morning and fell asleep more than once though.

very monotone and sometimes studders or forgets where he was in his lecture. It's a very one sided clas, he asks questions about the books, but no-one answers because he expects you to read the texts at more than 200 pages between each class. if you're not a hardcore worker, you're screwed. His tests are half scantron, and half loooong essay.

TERRIBLE!!I had to drop this class.I went to meet with him after one of the tests to ask questions about my test, and he told me I was a C student and I was never going to do well in an english class when I have A's in all my english classes. He expects a 3-5pg essay along with a long multiple choice section on tests.Worst teacher I've ever had.

I LOVE this class. He goes over everything we read, his tests are fairly easy if you read, and the books are not very long. The essays are rough, but he gives you a lot of time to prepare, and allows a cheat sheet.

Prof. Fay's course is very reading intensive- although he picks some great works!! His objective tests are very simple (especially if you do the reading) but the essay portion of the tests are brutal!! Make sure you give yourself plenty of time for this class! (YIKES!) PS- Hang on to those "unused essays"- might need them for extra credit!!

Dr. Fay talks too much for his own good and his classes arent interesting at all. I rarely went to class and when I did, I was certain they would never end. The worst part? His tests are strange...he gives you three essay topics to prepare for each test and then picks one. so those other two you wrote? well they are useless. bad prof.

He exposes you to a lot of great literature. He gives the essay questions two weeks before the tests, which makes his tests easy as long as you prepare. His class is somewhat challenging if you are not a good writer, but I found the writing assignments interesting. He gives a ton of extra credit opportunity. I thought it was an easy A.

Class is really boring, but tests are VERY easy and you don't really have to read the material because he doesn't test you on it. He grades papers very hard, but it is possible to get A's on them. Even though he's boring to listen to it is not a hard class.
