98% of this class is following tons of menial directions... like putting a period in the wrong spot of the excel file it's minus 10 pts. i didn't learn much more than how to do EVERYTHING in excel. everything else is common sense. i went to class about once a week. communication btwn sexton and TAs is NONEXISTENT. no one knew what she wanted.

She think's she knows everything and she doesn't. This class is a HUGE waste of time. Its basically an overview of business majors which is boring. Its not about what you know, its just if you follow her directions which are just time consuming and pointless.

I like Mrs. Sexton. She can seem abrasive, but it is more of her way of staying on task and moving quick. Fun teacher. Enjoyable discussions, informative (sometimes tough to pay attention, but that's business) lectures. Extremely nice when talk with outside of class. Must pay attention and look for comparing things.

I had an 87.6 and she would not round so I got a B. First B at UT. That class is a waste of time and you don't learn anything useful for the real world. It's busy work and it's one of the worst classes I have had at UT.

Total waste of a class. 'Learning' is not on the menu for this class - it's all about being a good little monkey and following directions. I was a 4.0 student until this class where I finished with an 89.46 which remained at a B+. Thanks... Thanks for wasting my money, time and gpa. Presumptuous know-it-all who attributes business knowledge to textbook learning. Does not seem to comprehend anything outside of her pathetically comprised powerpoints (often plagued with misspellings, while expecting ours to be flawless). Sets inconceivable standards for students that she herself cannot meet.

This class is pointless. The only time I ever learn is in my discussion class. The lecture's are pointless, she just goes on and on about nothing pertinent. This class is basically all busy work and very precise in what they look for, as far as grading. Just go in knowing it is going to suck and be very time-consuming.

My experience has been terrible. Half the curriculum was high school general business stuff, the other was hours and hours of tedious excel homework. The instructors were unresponsive and unavailable, the TA's were just trying to get through the day, and the course policies were senselessly draconian. Avoid.

Swannee is fair and clear only problem I had with this class was the students that didn't really need to be there talking through the class and the class sections being too big! There is alot of material taken from speakers and short movies for exams so go to class 100% and pay attention plus take good notes and be serious. You'll get an A.

I would suggest not to take Finance 301 with Swannee Sexton. She teaches the class as if you already know everything there is to know about finance. The average score on one of the exams was a 67. She is very obnoxious in class and the tests are ridiculous. However, she does curve at the end of the semester.

Good Luck! I advise you to take this class @ Pellissippi where my friend came out with an A+ and I got a C+ @ UT. They don't take attendance but you have to go to pass, and note taking doesn't help! It reminds me of High School w/ all the busy work...And if she thinks a 66% avg. on a test is good then that MUSH explain the teaching style!

BA 201----Fall 2006! Worst professor in my entire life! Swannee will expect you to be completely flawless saying,"There are NO EXCUSES in the business world!" Although,she messes up the directions in every hand-out you recieve, blaming it always on the TA's. haha.Class Avg for Mid-term: 67.8%. Class Avg for Final: 58.8%.Numbers speak for themselves
