Amazing teacher very concise, she is very helpful and cares tremendously about her students. You get what you put into the class, if you don't take the initiative to do homework or review the lesson be prepared to fail.

Great instructor. Does not grade or check homework but you are expected to do it in order to understand. Daily Quizzes (5pts) are based off of homework questions and are open note. She drops the lowest test score as well. She does not round up. Very helpful, no bs and wasting time. Works through problems as the lesson, if you don't understand, ask!

She is an extremely friendly person. She is always willing to help and will answer any questions you have. She gives quizzes, but it is basically just copying a few of the problems from the previous nights homework. Her tests are pretty straight forward, no surprises. I defiantly recommend her.

She is very easy to understand and is crystal clear when it comes to explaining things. I really liked how she went over homework problems toward the end of the lecture. Make sure you are doing your homework everyday so that you can get good grades on your quizzes. She is super nice and very helpful. I would definitely take her again.

I took her for College Algebra- Math 103 and I was scared at first but if you show her that you care and make sure you do all the quizzes because that will boost your grade a lot.. You will do fine and she drops the lowest test score and final was easy. I really hate math and was lazy just studied before every test and ended up with a B

She is an excellent math teacher. In all my previous math classes I always struggled to get a C, but in her class I was shocked to see I was getting A's on my tests. She gives fairly simple problems and never tries to trick you and always gives partial credit. It is important to come to class because missing quiz points can mess up your grade

Solid math professor. Quirky yet always maintains control of the class. Homework not graded; only a few short quizzes per week. Tests problems not hard but you must work quickly. Extremely efficient and concise in her lessons, provides many examples in a short period but leaves little time for anything else. Prepares you for upper level math.

Hands down, best math teacher I've ever had. She was extremely helpful, and was there to answer any questions. She had a quirky sense of humor. She was very clear on what she wanted, had quizzes almost every day, straight from the h/w. and prepared us well for the exams. You have to go to class everyday in order to keep caught up on the information

I don't think you'll find a math teacher who is as considerate and helpful as shanks. she genuinely cares for her students yet at the same time she's not too laid back to where you don't learn annything. and truly a wonderful teacher and breaks down every little part of her lessons. love it!

Hands down the best math professor I have ever had. Currently in her 212 class and doing remarkable! The class might move a tad bit fast but if you do the HW and work through the examples with her you'll do just fine. Take her! I HATED Math before taking Shanks.

I love Shanks. She is super caring to her students, yet at the same time doesn't allow any nonsense in the classroom, allowing everyone to focus on her teaching which is AMAZING. Homework quizzes were reasonable, homework was on your terms, tests related to the material we learned. Over awesome class and a nice woman. Taking her for precalc!

One of the best math teachers I've ever had. She is very clear, and her tests are pretty much everything covered in lectures and homework, so no surprises. I actually hardly ever did the hw and still got an A ;). Some advice: show up as much as possible, because one absence can put you behind a lot. Also, TAKE NOTES - saves you from doing the hw.

Great Professor! She is so clear in everything and will answer any question you have. All homework assigned was perfect for the test and as long as you do the review questions for the test you shouldn't have a problem with the tests.
