Comment:

He gets distracted and monologues quite frequently, making for a boring 5 day a week class. Unfortunately, he gets so caught up he rushes through the material he actually needs to teach. Super easy class if you took Spanish before and are willing to put in the work outside of class. His tests are straightforward and his extra credit opp. is godly.

Ted Peebles is a true asset to UR. One of the best professors, Spanish or otherwise, I've ever had. He's hilarious, knows an endless supply of interesting/random cultural facts, and can clearly teach Spanish concepts. 221 is an annoying, difficult class by nature, but Peebles makes it bearable. Fair grader, tests not too bad. A must for Com2!

Comment:

Dr. Peebles was one of a kind. I've always struggled with languages and he did an incredible job of making me feel comfortable with learning Spanish. Not only that but but he was just a great guy to talk to about well anything. Looking back, I'm so glad took him because he made me fall in love with Spanish. Definitely one of the best profs at UR.

First of all, he is a great dude. Real funny and willing to push the envelope a little bit. If you put in some kind of consistent effort, you're golden. Just show that you're making an effort. Class is always entertaining, as Peebles is quite the storyteller.

Gets off topic very easily. Not demanding, just boring. Nature of class (class schedule) makes it annoying, but definitely one of the easier professors.

He is an absolutely great professor when he is willing to explain the material but he often spends time just reviewing homework out of the text book. His tests are very hard to make an A on but getting a B is easy. He has so much potential to be a great Spanish instructor but doesn't live up to it.

Peebles is the best professor I've had at Richmond. He really loves Spanish. He also loves his wife and kids... and spends a lot of time talking about them in class. He gets off topic easily but the class is a breeze. I got an A on every test. Offers lots of extra credit. Very helpful outside of class.

If you are looking to just fulfill your language requirement, take Peebles. He talks in english for about ninety percent of the class so it is way less intense than other spanish classes. His tests are pretty hard to get A's on, but you can definitely get a B. Lots of homework, but you can speed through it.

Peebles has more stories than he has time for. You will not learn Spanish if you take him. You will learn a lot about a lot of random topics but Spanish won't be one of them. However, he will expect you to learn Spanish but over all he is pretty easy and speaks a lot of English in class.

Peebles is great. He assigns a little more homework than other professors but is very lenient about the due dates. He can be a little scatterbrained but overall he sticks to the syllabus. His tests just get easier and easier, and the projects are actually fun to do. Always speaks alot of English in class so he's easy to understand.

His stories are amazing and he has really simple methods for teaching stuff that the book makes seem complicated. Nightly homework, but it takes less than 45 mintues. Tests are fair and he tells you exactly what to study for. A great teacher to get you to fall in love with Spanish.

With Peebles, you'll learn a lot about random things. You'll learn about foreign cultures, interesting books, linguistics, but when it comes to spanish? He's very knowlegeable, but gets off topic a lot, because he loves to talk about, well, anything. You won't learn as much spanish as you would in other classes. A fun, relaxed spanish course.

Peebles is the best language instructor I've ever had. His lectures are clear, his explanations instructive. He's also very funny. No language course is easy--that is the nature of the material--but Peebles makes Spanish enjoyable. If you put in a moderate amount of work outside of the classroom, you can pull an A.

Very funny and reasonable guy, smart too. You learn what you need to know and the class is very layed back and entertaining. Sometimes just talk in english about world events the whole time. Tests are a little tricky, but Spanish doesn't get a whole lot easier

from my experience i have never had a teacher that has been more concerned with his students learning things the right way. He takes extra time and care to make sure you understand the material. He goes beyond teaching spanish to make sure you understand the important things in life.

Great great guy, class is exciting. Even a mayterm class that lasts four hours a day was enjoyable with Peebles. Its a language so take it for what it is on easiness. Would recommend him to anyone looking ot fulfill his/her language requirement!!!
