Comment:

Theres no sugar coating it AMY is hard, there is a lot of info but Terry gives you many resources to help you learn. He gives you book options(some are even FREE) he gives practice quizzes in class that help you figure out what you may need to study more. Teaching style is relaxed but WAY less stressful than other professors. Highly recommend.

Comment:

Terry is one of my favorite professors :) I took him for Bio-1 and Amy 2A/2B and would recommend the same path to anyone. He is very knowledgeable and will be able to answer your questions. You have to be disciplined though; he's not strict and if you don't put in the work he certainly doesn't do it for you. Read the textbook and do practice tests!

he is very nice but way to laid back and doesn't teach. so you got to teach yourself . he guts off topic to easy. on his lectures he tells you a slide is important then clicks away to a picture and talks for days about that animal picture that is not even on the test. so must teach yourself. doesn't take attendance. test are whatever if you study.

Honestly, Terry is a great, super nice, guy but... he is not a very good teacher. He is too laid back, and really expects you to teach yourself. Only has the exams and no class work. Class average is a 62%. Like I said, nice guy, but his teaching skills are too laid back.

Comment:

Very clear and caring professor. Biology isn't one of the easiest classes, but he kept the long class periods interesting and gives specific study guides for tests. He has a no-extra-credit policy, which some students may dislike, but his reasons for it are agreeable. Overall, he's a funny, professional, and easy to understand.

Shaw is a very clear and specific teacher you'll know exactly what he's looking for. He doesn't give out homework and there aren't very many tests you must be self disciplined to do well. I worked pretty hard for my grade but it is a difficult class in general. He knows we are all adults and doesn't bother you if you need to leave early. Very funny

Terry Shaw is a great professor. He explains everything in detail, and will answer any questions and even draw out examples on the board to make sure everything is crystal clear. He seems like a great guy and is always in a good mood. Totally recommend him!!

Professor Shaw is awesome. He teaches very clearly, and takes test question from online practice tests. He wants all he's students to do well. There are 3 tests, and a final w/ no homework. He also takes a lot of his material from powerpoints and there should be any reason you can't get an A. Highly recommend him!!!

Prof. Shaw is very good person and very helpful. He cares a lot about students and wants them to learn. He explains the material very clear. He lets you get a copy of the presentations which are very helpful. Exams are not hard. I highly recommend him. He is one of the best instuctors at the RCC.

He is a good teacher in terms of discussing one concept at the time, but when it comes to notes and final reviews he's really fast and hard to understand. i didnt have fun taking notes in class. Besides study guides are long having 20% of in class notes and 80% from book. this is not a class for an average student or lower...

(winter semester)he's a great teacher. Really helpful and easy going. He always tried to make the class easier for the students. only went over what you needed to know. If you do the exam review he gives you will get a great grade :-) everything is on the review. gave us the opportunity to do a extra credit paper 2 pg. final was easy:-)

When I took this class, he was only substituting because the original teacher was unable to teach the class at the time. I really enjoyed his teaching method better than the original teacher. His tests were a little challenging, but fairly easy. I highly recommend him if you want to learn about biology of any sort. He really knows his stuff!

Terry is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He is truly passionate about teaching. He is willing to help you out, dont be afraid to ask. I took A&P 2a in the summer. It was very difficult!I managed to pull a B-. Dont think u can slide pass in this course. The book is the key! Most test questions come from the text.Study study study!It'll pay off!

Outstanding professior, he is very passionate about Biology. He was very helpful and took him time explaining difficult topics. He was always available after class to answer questions. However, he will not hand you a good grade unless you've earned it...he'll make you work!! Very funny, he loves to talk about his life's many adventures.

I am currently taking his Zoo II Vertbrates and he is awesome! By far the best science teacher I have ever had! His love for his field shows through and you can't help but pick it up too. He makes sure u understand everything so don't hestiate 2 ask! I am definitely taking him again for bio 11 & 12
