One of the worst CS teachers at WCU. Do not take him if you don't have to. His classes are useless, he teaches from the book and makes you print out the hand outs for his class. He is very boring and often times becomes lost while teaching and has to start over. He could easily be replaced by just telling the students what chapters to read.

CSC 115 He puts things on the exams he did not teach. We just copy what he does on the computer but the exam is on paper and you try to figure out what the code does or what code. However he doesn't really teach you how to write code in the first place. You have projects and he grades them but does not teach you how. Do not take him!

Ahlborn isn't bad, really. Sure he assigns a lot of text for a computer class, but just study his powerpoint exams and browse the text for a decent quiz grade. The labs are fine, and he's always open to helping his students. A very nice professor and a decent computer class.

The thing that messes up everyone in his classes is that he not only tests your programming skills but also asks knowledge questions on exams. Study ever detail of your notes and understand how the example programs work and you will be just fine on exams. His assigned programs don't seem hard but he expects perfection. Not that bad of a professor.

Yes this guy is AMISH!! I will never hear another human being say "essentially" more than he does. He is an easy teacher, but talks and talks and talks about stupid things. Don't let the suspenders scare you though, good teacher. I got A's on his tests and didn't even study!
