SOC101 was an optional course for me and boy did I make a bad choice. Prof. Phillips is nice and he can be amusing but his lectures are so long and drawn out. Many kids would wind up falling asleep during them. He gave 3 blackboard tests which were fairly easy and 1 paper. Easy concepts but long, drawn out lectures. Nice guy though.

Prof. Phillips is a great guy but an OK professor. The lectures get really heavy at times, especially when he goes on a tangent. The the tests 3 tests are take home, 1 paper and no final. Easy A if you skim through the text

Prof. Phillips is fair and really knows his stuff. If you show that you are a serious student he will respect you. Lectures are informative and light if you listen to what he is saying and pay attention the in class tests are easy. Not too political heavy but hey sociology is about politics too. The semester flew by, would take him again for sure.

AMAZING online teacher. There is a lot of work to do for the class, but so worth it. He is encouraging, gives great feedback. Definitely recommend if you're taking him for an online class.

After having several decent professors and a few not so good ones at Suffolk, this semester I've come to the conclusion that professor Phillips was one of my favorite at Suffolk. He gives clear criteria and subjects he wants you to focus on. ONLY one paper, extra credit and 3 exams. Very interesting class on todays topics and social issues.

When I read what everyone said about his class on this site I was genuinely scared. This class can be a little challenging, the tests were difficult. If you study and do the work you will be fine! Overall a very interesting class with a very interesting professor.

He is a pretty funny guy. But damn, he will make you work your ass off for your grades. I'm not to sure where he finds the questions for his tests but if you have him i recommend just writing down the definitions from the chapter and make sure your understand the overall ideas, but he still tends to go into detail on the tests. Study hard!

I do not recommend this professor. Unless you feel like listening to his political views every class, it is not worth it. He doesn't explain the essays and he doesn't review for tests. His classes always run late, and he doesn't care about his students. Drop the class while you can. You'll be ripping your hair out with this professor.

He's alright. a TON of notes. tests consist of difficult fill ins, without a word bank. He is nice, but his tests are kind of hard.. 3 tests,1 paper. And an extra credit option. Just a ton of information to study and learn.

he's a pretty nice guy but he's sooo boring ! i get so impatient with him and he gets off topic ALOT. he gives 3 texss the first one is a take home. when he puts up notes he leaves them there for a minute than goes to the next slide and you don't have enough time to finish copying down notes.

great teacher, he will fry your brain if you aren't willing to read the chapters though, just make sure you attend class, he practically hands you the test in the notes taken in class, a few odd things might be left out that he'll grab from the book to mess with you but besides that he's pretty chill

Awesome Professor, took the time to explain material that I was having trouble understanding. Makes class interesting. 2 easy papers and 3 multiple choice tests with 10 short answer questions. He grades the writing assignments fairly and the first test is take home. Def take him, if you just read the chapters youll do fine.

I didn't do so well overall in the class but I ended up passing, which was my fault because I slacked alot, not only in this class but the semester... anyway, He's a very good professor. I think he is one of the best I've ever had in any School. Talks ab out exactly whats on the test. Everything out of the book. Take him!!!!
