DO NOT TAKE. Extremely bad teacher. Grades unbelievably hard and thinks that he knows everything. His assignments are the most vague things I've ever done in my college career. STAY AWAY if you like your GPA.

I took Rosteck for two classes at once, unknowingly the worst mistake of my life. This was the hardest teacher i've had at the U of A. He gives so much outside reading, tests are hard, pop quizzes, directions were always vague, and he was a hard grader. His feedback was always negative and vague also.

I took Dr. Rosteck in an online class for the summer. We literally covered 15 chapters in 5 weeks. There was a quiz every week! He has a very strict grading rubric. The assignments requires a lot of reading and the class is VERY time consuming. Avoid taking this if you work or are taking other classes. Expect more if taken during a regular sem.

1. Several articles to read each week. 2. Just expect a quiz every week. He doesn't announce them, but you'll figure out a pattern. i.e. Monday - watch film Wednesday - quiz 3. I am currently working on a 75 point written assignment due tonight and it's the middle of fall break; if that tells you anything about him. DON'T TAKE HIM FOR AN ONLINE CLASS. He is incredibly vague with his directions then gives you mean feedback when you do the assignment wrong.

He is an absolute JERK!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES! He is extremely boring and has terrible handwriting so you can't see what notes he writes on the board, you have to ask several times. TESTS ARE VERY DIFFICULT! They're essay tests, of course. He talks about the civil rights movement the whole time! He came off as a super nice guy but he is not!!

I had Dr. Rosteck for TV and American culture. He's an okay guy. The only reason I got an A was because he gave me 100 % on both of my papers. His tests are difficult if you cant manage time. Take him if you need the credit. Keep in mind that he expects a lot of outside work (watching shows, writing, reading) etc

I have had Dr. Rosteck for 2 classes, and I can honestly say they were among the most interesting classes I have taken. He can be hard. He expects his students to think, not just memorize and repeat. Tests are essay, with a take home final. Ask for extra credit. Excellent teacher and I look forward to having him as a prof again.

This class was difficult, but that wasn't the problem. Overall the content was interesting and enjoyable. The problem was Rosteck. He was so rude and had absolutely no respect for his students or their opinions. It was a shame he was so mean. Otherwise, this class would have been one of my favorites.

Has no patience for anyone or anything! THE rudest professor I've ever had. Told my class to not come back for the rest of the semester because he was tired of teaching us because supposedly we were lazy. We were on our own for the final. If you want someone who cares about his students and teaches well...DON'T take this class.

Anyone who says it is only bad for people 'not willing to learn' obviously didn't experience the ridicule in class, the lack of clarity in what he wants us to study, or the unwillingness to give a straight answer when pressed for what he is looking for on homework or an essay on the test. Worst prof. at U of A.

Terrible! Do not take any of his classes! Rude to people who walk in a few minutes late, yet he kept us over atleast 5 min every time. Boring, doesn't grade papers fairly if you don't write exactly what he wants to hear.

Took him for social mvmts. Biggest mistake ever. We only studied the civil rights mvmt, which last time I checked, was not the only social mvmt that ever took place. He just needs to rename the class to "study of civil rights," instead of tricking us.It makes me sad b/c I love social mvmts, and I honestly felt like I was wasting my time every class

Yes, you learn about various topics, but he is very particular when it comes to answering his questions. If it's no what he's looking for then you get a rude rejection. It seems like it's his way or it's wrong. Ask him what he is looking for when taking a test or writing a paper. If you don't do what he wants, he will give you an F.

Rosteck is a great professor. I think most people that don't like him either don't care for his dry sense of humor or don't want to actually work to learn something - like alot of our comm majors unfortunately. He's an intelligent guy who really knows his stuff. He teaches well and in a way that forces you to actually learn something. He's good.

I have taken Rhetoric, TVAC, and Comm Crit, and I have loved them all. He is not an easy teacher, and he doesn't waste his time on lazy students. I have worked fairly hard in his classes, learned a lot, and recieved an "A" in each class that I took. However, he does have a very dry sense of humor, and I can see why some people don't like him.
