Professor Saunders uses almost no slides which is awesome. His lectures are interesting and easy to follow and he puts the important things like names and dates on the slides. He is extremely clear about what he wants for the midterm and final so studying is easy. He is not an impossible grader at all and he's very understanding. A true gem

I'm certainly partial to the material, but I found all of his lectures interesting. Knowledgable on the topic. Never had to ask for help because the expectations were very clear. Tutorials are great if you do the readings. One novel and a few other readings; nothing cataclysmic.

His lectures are quite interesting, but somewhat broad and he jumps around topic-to-topic; hard to follow the lecture. Very harsh grading on all of the assignments including the exams. Not a great prof. for recommendation if you are going to take history courses. But, he is an expert in German history.

Dr. Saunders is a good professor. Lectures may be difficult to take notes with and his exams can be challenging, but make sure to see him in office hours. Extremely helpful and patient, Saunders will do whatever he can to assist you in your questions and will even look over your essay if you're concerned. Highly recommend.

I found him to be an easy marker. However, he did give the class a journal assignment but didn't give instructions for it. After it was handed in, he told the class he had no idea how to mark the journals as each student had come up with something different.

Saunders is just a really bad professor. He is an incredibly hard marker who does not clarify what he wants on exams or his paper. He is willing to change your grades, but I still found his grading style to be unjustifiably unfair. Steer clear of him.

Awesome. Challenging, thought-provoking, makes you push yourself and makes you want to do the same. Marking is extremely fair. Helpful if you can get a moment with him - being department head means he's ALWAYS occupied ith something. Class is informal, and he buys beer for his honours students at semester's end. What more could you ask for?

Tom is the most helpful professor in the department, and his grading is fair. His expectations are high, but this is offset by the relaxed atmosphere he facilitates in the classroom. It has been my pleasure to take a number of courses with him, and I welcome his promotion to chair of the history department.

Tom requires an intimidating amount of reading and research for his classes, but he is always willing to help. He takes a lot of interest in his students if they put in effort. He is one of the most caring and intelligent professors on campus.

Nice guy, very knowledgable, but crazy with his overheads. He talks about each topic while you are still writing stuff down from what he said before. He is a difficult marker, but really who isn't in the hist. dept. He's infatuated with Hitler to. I won't suggest taking this class to anyone.

Well he loves Freudian theory, and saw it in teh films we studied, I did not. I did take 373 with him and enjoyed it, would recommend it but I would never recomend this class. 3000 word essay as final? Does he think we have no other finals?

He was more into imagery and expressionalism than historical facts for this class. He taught it like it was a films study course. Expects alot from his students(you'll learn this if you miss ONE class)and talks to the bitter end of all classes.

Good prof, but somehow everything comes down to the Holocaust for this guy. Also, tends to get this slightly preachy 'now I have some profound wisdom to impart to you' tone...you can hear it coming and its a little bit nauseating...
