Tim is one of the best profs I've ever had. He really cares about his students and has a really laid back and yet a very passionate approach to teaching. He's taken a different model to education, which is both less stressful and more engaging than I've ever experienced before. We need more professors like him in the education system! Recommend!!

Amazing professor! My favourite so far at Camosun. He is passionate about the material he teaches, and presents it in an interesting and relevant manner. I always left the class feeling inspired, and like I truly learned something useful. Highly recommend.

I took two of Tim's classes (217 & 222), and loved them both. He was very clear on what he wanted and helped where needed although he wanted you to work to find the answer, not just give it to you. There is a lot of work but most could be finished in class. 220 was online and I found it to be heavy on reading, but very easy to do assignments.

Tim was a wonderful professor. He is very passionate about what he teaches and presents the material in a very relevant way. He can occasionally word his assignments a little differently, so be sure to get clarification on anything you don't understand. All around an interesting class that was a very easy A

Tim Elkin is a fabulous prof. Very engaging, and made the subject incredibly interesting. He was very helpful when asked questions and seemed to genuinely care about students success. Interesting lectures and labs, although more direction would be helpful with labs. Overall, I would recommend taking this class, with this professor.

I had GEOG 100 with Tim and I enjoyed the class - very eye opening. Was a skeptic at first but he eventually grew on me. He is knowledgeable but very realistic in his views and teachings. Conveys content well. Very active D2L communicator. If you show interest in the course, arrive to class, and do your work, he'll be easy going. Solid professor.

He gives good lectures and marks very easy. As long as you explain your answer, he will give you full marks (if it applies to the subject). He replies to emails quickly and answer questions clearly. He is a excellent instructor! :)

The content was really interesting, though I did have a huge problem with some of the language used. First Nations are compared to "Civil Society" regularly. There is a TON of reading for this course as well. I have easily spent 4-5 hours a week on reading. The assignments are scattered and hard to find, and the questions often vague. Good luck!

Tim grew on me through the semester, he does really want you to succeed so if you show effort then he's pretty easy going. The only thing I would say is he won't always answer your questions, I think it's in hopes you will learn it through the course itself, or to make you think. Either way he's very fair and easygoing.

This was my first online class and loved it. Tim made it easy to do well and everything was clearly laid out. As long as you participate each week, you will do well. He has 2 'tests' which are hard but only worth 5% each. Tim was helpful when I needed any clarifications. I would take an online class with Tim again for sure.

Tim is a very condescending, and expects you to understand material without much explanation. He also stats the tests are just on lecture material but then half of it is from the labs. The lab assistants are more helpful than he is...

Don't even need to buy the textbook. His tests are based off his powerpoint notes(the theory stuff such as tragedy of the commons, pollution abatement, steps in scientific assesment,etc.). Just study his notes, do his labs and you'll get an A+

He's really nice and a good teacher. All the labs were pretty easy if you read the textbook. but the exams are confusing, they aren't multiple choice and I found some questions on there that weren't based on the textbook - which was unexpected. One of the few good teachers at camosun though, it's a horrible school.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. Unclear, expects you to print out pages of PowerPoint notes. Expensive textbook virtually unused. Doesn't even want to see you during his office hours, won't answer questions. It's a statistics course, NOT an environmental course. I withdrew from the course. Never done that before in my life.

This guy is a freaking toolbox and a half. And you dont see many half toolboxes walkin around because they are just pointless, much like this guy. At the start of the year you are so stoked on the material, but he just sucks the life force out of you. If you ask any questions he talks to you as if you are an illiterate migrant worker. DONTTAKEHIM!

Do not take any classes with Tim - he is a joke of an instructor! He will not help you, will not answer questions, and will load you up with redundant outdated material that is unclear - until he hands it back, and then he explains exactly what he wants. He does not want to help students learn, just have them produce more stuff for him to read!

Tim's a very knowledgeable guy, and approachable -- not always perfectly clear, but that's OK. Liked the class, learned a lot, and would recommend it to anybody who has an interest in the state of the environment. A bit depressing, but things we should all think about. Lots of videos and a lab every week. Pretty straightforward stuff. Fair marker.
