His class was very challenging but not unreasonable. Make sure to follow his style guidelines on the paper and keep up with the study questions.

you only get graded on two tests and a paper. Attendance is not mandatory but you should come to every class. Hardest test I've ever taken. Has 30 pages of questions to review from. His views aren't obvious at first, but he is very conservative and that was obvious talking about Kavanaugh.

No matter what class you take, he will be a hard professor with significant amounts of reading. However, he is absolutely worth taking at least one class with, especially if you are even remotely considering any form of graduate school. He truly makes you think about the topic, not just learn by memorization.

Hagle was quite possibly my favorite professor at Iowa. He pushes his students to not only understand the material, but how it is important to legal precedent and American history. I took Constitutional Law with him, which was incredibly difficult. I also served as his research assistant for two semesters. He cares about the students who try.

Con law and judicial process are the two hardest classes i've taken so far at iowa but totally worth it! Hagle is very fair and his office hours are extremely helpful. I wasn't surprised by anything on the tests but they are just difficult because of the content. Hardest, but favorite classes to date!

Comment:
I've taken Conlaw and Judicial Process with Professor Hagle. Conlaw was significantly more difficult simply due to the content. Anybody who says his classes are unreasonably difficult likely is just lazy. The course load is dense, but he literally hands you the questions/answers to exams via study questions. Great classes, smart guy.

Hagle is a fantastic professor and if you sign up for his class and are thinking about law, his class forces you to rethink that. If you cannot handle this, it might be time for your exit before things get hairier. His classes are brutally hard and you need to come prepared for the worst. 10 page paper, 2 tough (do not take them lightly) tests.

Hagle is an extremely knowlegeable, eloquently spoken Professor. His tests are tough and his lectures can be dense, so if you do not have a strong interest in Law or Political Science, I would not recommend taking his class. He talks fast, so I started to record his lectures on my phone. It really helped!

Hagle is an exceptional professor. He makes you work for the grade you receive, and if you're not pre-law or serious about political science, it is reflected in such grade. I loved his American Constitutional Law course, but it was incredibly difficult with a lot of reading. He spells out exactly what he wants in his papers, so that was a breeze.

Joke of a professor. Minimal class discussion, mostly him just talking at his students. He marks down good papers with relevant content and stellar grammar based on arbitrary criteria he made up (he marks you down if you use the world 'because') Don't take any of his classes unless you need to for your major. Went to class all the time and did all the readings. It seemed like nothing helped out went test time came. Class paper too roughly graded because of his pickiness (e.g., Do not use because if you can use should instead or clever wording such as in order to).

I'd heard mixed reviews about him, mainly, he talked about conservative political ideology too often, but he was extremely balanced. CLASS IS REALLY HARD. I did all the reading and most of the study questions (study questions are essential!!!!!) and still got a bad grade. He knows his stuff. Brilliant professor, very helpful, amazing class.

Very difficult course that will take up an immense amount of your time, at least the course material is very interesting. Exams are excruciating and the paper is tough as well. Steer clear unless you have to take this class.

His classes are tough and require an immense amount of preparation outside of class to ensure a top grade, but if you plan on law school the classes are great prep. Plus, you can get a great recommendation letter if you take his research course. He's also really dedicated to his students. (Btw, ask about Princess and Miss Boots)

He's a decent prof. His CJ system class is tough, especially the second test. The first test was pretty easy, while the 2nd was confusing and not as indicative of what we learned in class. Paper assignment was okay. Hagle seems to like to intimidate students by making himself seem like a tough prof, but he's not any tougher than what i was used to.
