Dr. Jewell knows his stuff. He's the head of the finance and economics department. If you have the chance, take him. He only teaches one class because the university requires him to (he does research). You will probably have to schedule time to meet with him, as he is busy (he will meet and buy you starbucks). Tests were hard. No real use of note-taking in exams either. No real review for that matter. Just told us to read the book for review. Also his teaching method is very lecture based, using complex terms to describe things. Overall pretty bad.

Comment:

Great teacher, made going to class bearable. The material gets pretty boring but he teaches it well. Get the book, all hw and quizzes are straight out of it. 4 tests, and a cumulative final, 5 hw assignments and 5 or 6 graded quizzes. He offers extra credit too. Easy A or B for sure. Get hws checked by the the HelpLab- free 100s on hw if you do.

Dr. Jewell is funny, clear with what he is teaching, and he is understanding. He makes economics (I am in microeconomics) seems so much easier. He also gives extra credit opportunities in case you missed a quiz in class or homework.

Dr. Jewell is AMAZING!I took his Labor class as an undergrad and adv micro as a grad student. Loved both classes even though micro was tough. He's part of the reason that I was able to come back to UNT for grad school. He's mean to annoying students... and that's kindda fun to watch in class. (If you're stupid he'll ignore you or let u know!)

One of the more difficult econ classes offered out there, but Jewell is great. (and it helps that he is incredibly hot, lol). The material seems simple enough, but watch the wording on his exams, that definitely threw me off several times. He grades ridiculously hard, but gives 10-15 point curves. This class will make you think, so be prepared!

He was one of the toughest Econ professors I had. Concepts were difficult to grasp in this class. I cannot stress how important it is to do the HW. Tests "mirrored" HW problems. Understand the HW and you will at least pass.
