Comment:
Dr. Beebe is the worst professor I've had at UD thus far. He forces a curve on the class, gives less than 15% of the class A's, and tells students that nobody loves him when we don't show up for office hours. Exam problems come from the back of the book, but this man truly cannot teach to save his life. Working hard will not guarantee you an A.

Quite simply the worst professor I've ever had. Inconsistent grading, worthless one-on-one, boring lecturer.. the list goes on. You'd be hard pressed to find a person less fit to teach chemical engineers at UD. Avoid if you don't have to take him. ChemEs have fun....

Beebe is not the best professor, he attempts to care but something about his personality and how he grades (harshly) makes it seem fake. Class is hard to fail, but hard to get an A in (14% of the class this year got As). Class is basically AP chem, mostly equilibrium, with a bit of statistic in the beginning.

CHEM220 with Beebe is a bore. It is a shame he is so bad at teaching because outside of class he is really a great guy to talk to. The class is graded on a curve so if you do at least average relative to the class you get a C or higher. There is homework every week but it helps your grade and he has a lot of office hours.

EXTREMELY BORING. Only half of the content he goes over in class is relevant information. His tests are pulled directly from the book and cover only a small amount of what he goes over in class. Grades are completely arbitrary and depend on how nice the grading TA is feeling that day. The curve makes it hard to fail but also hard to get an A.

He will teach either about the basics of a topic or completely irrelevant things in class and then skip over how to actually solve the questions that will be on the exam. On one exam, he started a topic with 10 minutes the class before the exam and most of that topic was the exam. His grading is too harsh and random. Not even his TAs like him.

He is the most unorganized professor I have ever had. a harsh grader and giving lots of homework that sometimes is impossible to complete. The lab reports are ridiculous with him never giving any indication on what to do but expecting us to know that he wants 30 graphs. MAKE SURE YOU KNO HOW TO USE EXCEL PERFECTLY OR ELSE YOU'LL FAIL.

Beebe is really disorganized and he spends half of almost every class going over the syllabus. Also his curve tends to hurt a lot of students as he tends to keep people in the C or B range with only a few people getting

i hated dr. beebe. his test were easy but asked absurd questions like "what is the textbook author's grandson's name" and stuff like that. he hated his students and it was not subtle. i don't know one person who didn't hate him but the class wasn't hard (unlike the lab). his lectures were so boring the kid in front of me watched Buffy every class.

Horrible Professor, class is very disorganized and often goes on tangents in lecture. Lecture is pretty pointless. It really isn't a challenging class if you do the homework and read the book. He is always available to help and holds office hours more than any other professor I've had. Put in some work on your own and you'll do fine.

Professor Beebe is a very interesting person and his quirks make showing up to class worth it. Not many students attend class because his exams are taken directly from problems at the end of each chapter. If you did well in high school chemistry, you should be just fine in this class.

This course is definitely difficult. you must put a lot of time into it. He makes his exams mysterious. you never know what you're going to get asked. He is impossible to get in contact with except during and directly after class. must go to class, must do weekly homework, if non chem engineer course is def tricky

Hands down absolutely the worst professor I've EVER had, and I've had some awful ones. So disorganized, self righteous, expects an insane amount of work, and DISORGANIZED. Lab component is also terrible. If you have to take, do as many problems from the book as you possibly can for exams.

This professor is the worst. I've had hard ones, difficult ones. As one next person said"selfishness over HIS EGO AND SELF IMPORTANCE" SUCH AN ego! He can't even understand a simple spreadsheet, BUT THEN BLAMES YOU for doing it wrong. What a shame a university I thought was great would keep useless jerks like this. While he's busy in vacation u r b

Beebe is the most brilliant inspiring man I know, if you want to be a complete prick of a professor who is terrible at teaching and doesnt care about students at all, come to class unprepared and refuse to answer emails or hold office hours.

Beebe is such an inspiration. Although the work is difficult & stressful, he is such an icon in the chemistry world. it really is an honor to study under him & work with him. he has a dry sarcastic sense of humor, which is great in a chem class. do your part by reading ahead, & you should be fine. i highly recommend him if you are willing to learn!
