Everything i've learned about programming came from this guy, and I could basically out teach the whole staff at that school. Very laid back attitude and funny to learn from. This guy would still be great if he were still around :/

People realize, although learning a programming language syntax is important, you MUST learn the semantics as well. The material is not "b.s." The theoretical concepts are what's most important in 1214/1215. That's what spans most all languages. If you just want to learn how to program, go2 CPCC.

Cassen sucks. He caught me cheating on a program and called me out on it; however, if you are serious about ITIS/ITCS, persevere and do your best now as it will benefit you later when you take Chalavadi or some other professor who actually teaches you applicable knowledge!

Don't let some of these reviews deter you. Yes, it's not a class you can just sit in on and absorb the information. You'll actually have to do some real studying outside of class. The programs are for your own benefit! Study, learn, and you'll do well. You'll have an advantage over other students.

Knows his material too well. He explains MORE about BS that doesn't apply to the subject matter, and less about what you need to know. Buy all books!!!! Doesn't solve studnet problems very well. His advice on solving coding errors sucks! -- USE THE TA's!

Hard class if you know nothing about Java. I would recommend taking it from another teacher. Don't ever miss class, and make sure you do the labs. Lots of time outside of class must be spent studying.

A very hard class but he is very good at explaining things. Goes through everything fairly fast but will help you with anything if you meet him in his office. Not impossible to get an A but you have to work very hard and do not miss a class.

Decent lectures! He doesn't expect you to know that much going in, but he goes really fast through Java. In order to do slightly well, you must spend ~12 hrs. per week outside of class studying the material. It wouldn't hurt to get a tutor.

I'm divided. On one hand, he is an effective professor. I have definitely learned the material. On the other hand, his tests are HARD and I would say they are UNFAIR. For example, writing out code from complicated labs FROM MEMORY being 70% of a test.
