Comment:
This is a very good class to demonstrate your knowledge beyond multiple choice. Tom is always available for office hours and answers emails quickly. He wants to see students succeed. Tom gives a generous amount of time in class to go over worksheets. If you dont do well on a midterm, get help, it will pay off.

Once you understand the concepts fully his exams are very fair. He always will take time to sit down with you and explain a concept you are having trouble with!

Tom is very picky with his wording. Be sure to know how he likes his wording to be on exams. The topic he teaches is really confusing do be sure to pay close attention to what he says and review a lot! Work on the ventilation worksheets he gives and if you ever need help, he's really good at being accessible outside of class.

Franklin the turtle wants his shell back. Including an extensive undergraduate degree from UBC, this guy is the worst ever. Terrible test style, zero teaching skills and no empathy if something happens in your personal life.

Uses way too many words to explain simple things. Do the worksheets, understand key words in explanations and you'll do great.

Easy Class, but very slow at times. How well you do tends to be determined by how well you understand the concepts. Some people didn't get it to start with, but most do by the end of the course.

What a horrific instructor. I wonder how it feels being the weakest teacher in the faculty. People like him tarnish Respiratory Therapy with their such dry, boring, non-enthusiastic personalities. He should retire ASAP, as he appears to hate the content he teachers, and can't interact with students.

Since when did standing in front of the class, and inaudibly mumbling on about PC vs. VC become a role of a prof? Extremely poor at explaining concepts that students must know. And then becomes frustrated when people don't understand. His class is extremely important, but he as an instructor is incredibly lacking in clarity.

not a very good prof. it's a shame that so much stuff gets taught in this program that RTs rarely do BUT the one concept that RTs are in charge of all day everyday is taught by HIM (mech vent) , and hes not a good at teaching it at all. i had to learn most of it on my own. ask faculty to swap him out for a different teacher for second semester.

absolutely awful prof. Ask coordinator if it's possible to take his class via correspondence as he barely fills the role of an instructor.

Comparing him with the other teachers in the faculty - I honestly don't understand why he teaches. His general teaching skills are lacking. I'm surprised that out of all the different opportunities in the field, he does one that he isn't good at. If you're not good at patient care and decide to be an instructor, at least be a good instructor!

Comment:
Not a very good instructor. He teaches a course which can be difficult to grasp at times, so the fact that he doesn't really attempt to explain things in different ways becomes problematic. By far the least effective instructor in the faculty. Also he is extremely monotone and lacks personality.

Nice guy, voice is fairly monotone so sometimes my mind wanders during lecture. His powerpoints are not really that good, you need to attend class and take notes.
