Comment:

Great prof. Extremely intelligent. He is sporadic, but organized in his own way. Very opinionated, but invites criticism or arguments. Overall his opinions are radical but exceptionally compelling. He encourages discussion and overall runs a good class. I was actually able to bare the 3h lec every week without leaving early. I'd recommend him.

Spends roughly 3 weeks on each lecture, then posts the slides in the 4th week making it very difficult to add notes while covering material. The right view is his view. Doesn't reply to e-mails. Endless tangents about his kids. Tells students to refer to a video for an assignment, and doesn't show video til assignment has already been submitted.

Simply was not up to my standards. As other reviewers have mentioned, his views are the only right ones, regardless of his preaching of tolerance and valuing different opinions. Never have I wanted a class to be over more than with Prof. Murphy

Do not take class if you have political views. His views are the only right ones. Do not bother arguing with him. Will spend 30-40% of classes talking about his political views which you will not be tested on. Final exam is extremely easy.

To be honest expected a lot going into this class. Made this class as boring as reading the textbook was. The course is over I have received only 1 grade back to date so I have no idea what my mark is going into finals. Needs to get his act together when it comes to grading assignments. His lectures are kinda fun & watch a lot of videos.

Overall a good prof. While his lectures are slightly repetitive or course material, they're still interesting and you'll want to go to them. He is a fair marker, and a prof who genuinely cares for his students. He is a little disorganized and extremely opinionated (excessive at times) TAKE THIS COURSE! :)

Murphy is the best prof I've ever had! He's a really nice guy, and his lectures are very stimulating. He encourages class discussion and goes the extra mile. I agree with his left-wing political views! Don't listen to the haters, they're all close minded to the amazing learning experience he provides. Take his class, I promise you'll like it!

Definitly the nicest professor I have had yet. Professor Murphy is quite dedicated to his students, and would gladly help any of them. Like class enviroment as it allows for good discussion. Teaching method is excellent, however organization is a little weak, and marking takes longer then necessary. Overall, a great professor.

Ignore the other comments. His a very nice guy and his class is interesting. The things I learned in his soc psych I used it to give speeches in my speech class. Exams are not hard and very fair. Overall, I had a good experience.

One of the best 400 level profs because of the way he teaches. Many ppl have given him bad reviews for 200-300 level courses, but for seminars, he propels the discussions and makes it fun and interesting.

Seems to be a very intelligent and passionate teacher BUT he tends to !!OVERLY!! discuss things (LONG rambles), marks are always late (some I haven't even received yet) and he never responded to any of my e-mails. The class is not as interesting as it could be. In the nicest way, I think he'd be a better primary/secondary teacher.

He is very interesting guy! The summer class was supper fun... He explained the lectures very clear with great examples! I very much enjoy his class and have fun with the class discussions, too.
