Tomoko is a perfectly fine teacher, but she isn't perfect. Missing a single portion of an assignment can set you back, and missing a single class is a bad omen. For first-time learners, her expectations are incredibly high, but she is sympathetic towards the effort and wants her students to succeed. Come into her class expecting a mediocre mark.

Tomoko is a great teacher if you are truly interested in Japanese, and don't just want to learn for video games or anime etc. She has weekly quizzes and assignments that will prepare you and keep you using the language, so if you are made to study little bits at a time which is essential for learning a language. She's definitely open to help

Tomoko is a very kind woman, but as a teacher, she honestly makes Japanese--something that I usually love--a chore and a source of anxiety. She expects her students to understand things immediately and seems to want tests to be as difficult as possible, and puts students on the spot constantly. I learn mostly through the textbook in her classes.

so many homework, assignments, pop quiz... but once you are doing all these, the main exam will be no prob She is so helpful and caring I love how she tells real Japanese life, culture, manners n stuff 2 But don't take her class for easy mark and she will ask questions to everyone in the class least 5 times each per day. look forward for that.

Tomoko is a wonderful teacher and I loved being in her class. Which is great, cause she teaches all the upper level Japanese courses. Tomoko cares about all of her students and is extremely helpful. She expects you to be respectful and responsible, and if you're willing to put in an effort you'll do fine. Not a course to slack off in.

She is a good and kind pro! Always helps students outside of classes. The quizes force you to learn every week but she marks students fairly. I love to take classes from her.

She is a very hard teacher because she forgets that we aren't fluent. Her tests were scary and it seemed that no matter how much I studied, there was always something that caught me off guard. She didn't let us to do all of the lab work before a test and so it was MUCH harder than 100 and 101. However, she is very nice and willing to help.

I have mixed feelings about this class. On one hand, she was an enthusiastic teacher, and seemed to have genuine interest in helping us learn the language, but at the same time I found her to be very unclear in her teachings and generally wound up teaching myself from the textbook instead!

What was this other person's posting? If he or she had studied, he or she would have done well. I personally think Lamb-Sensei was great and extremely helpful. Just have an open ear whem something's not in the textbook, as you'll need it on the speaking and writing exams. She is very friendly and can be your best friend too.

She isn't a overly great teacher.. She will not go out of her way to help you and if you are screwed over because of a class being cancelled she will just say oh well live with it. At a lower level she might be ok, but at a higher lvl she is useless. She really likes the grammar which is good if you want to learn about the grammar
