Professor Cave was so witty and friendly. He is knowledgable about literature and I got the impression that he truly cares that we understand the material. people say hes a tough grader but If you enjoy writing and make an effort you will get As. midterm was exceptionally easy but that's not to say the class won't challenge and stimulate. Loved him

Taking this class was a mistake, for the most part. He scrutinizes papers to no end. One mistake could mean the difference between a B and a C. He wants you to write exceptional papers, otherwise you can kiss your chances of getting an A goodbye. Lectures can get boring real quick. Dropped this class because I was better off with another prof.

Professor Cave is a decent teacher, and will definitely improve your writing. He assigns readings from the textbook every night, followed up with a short 6 question quiz every class session on your readings. There's an essay due about every other week. Overall, it's an easy B in the class, but tough to get an A.

He's honestly alright. You really have to work for your grade and can rarely get by with not reading. Expect quizzes and a good amount of essays. He's not great and he's not horrible. I ended up with an A, but I did work for it.

Cave is a great professor, however he makes you WORK for it! He is definitely a hard grader, especially on essays. I'm an english major and he gave me my first "C" on a paper. I ended up with an A in the class, but I worked for it! Expect quizzes on readings (almost every time you go into class)... Overall, he's alright..

There's a LOT of writing to be done in this class, and slacking off even the slightest will hurt you tremendously. He is very critical when it comes to your papers. If you don't consider yourself a reader or a writer, you're in for a world of hurt in this class. If you are, then you'll most likely see an improvement in your writing.

I don't recommend this class. He is very strict with grammar, indentations and work cited pages. If they're not exactly correct, your best luck is a C on your papers. I passed the class, but I can honestly say that I don't recall anything I learn from this class.

If you hate writing essays DO NOT take this class. Between weekly short writings, in-class and at home essays, I wrote about 16-17 papers. He is a grammar nazi and my well written papers received nothing but C's. He gives very interesting a complex topics but only seems to grade on grammar. If you take him, good luck! You will hate essays soon!

This class has required a lot of effort on my part. I have been out of english for about 12 years. I find this class engaging, informational and the lectures are not boring. He has a great personality and will answers emails promptly. I recommend him for those looking for a serious English class that can prepare for higher writing classes.

Not very good. he teaches part time and it shows. Don't take this class unless it is the last one open. Which sucks since because of the cutbacks you might actually have to. He takes an extremely apathetic approach when he attempts to explain some very hefty topics and it left me feeling very disconcerted... avoid if at all possible.

I have stuck it out this far. This class is not easy and I am certainly not the best writer but Professor Cave has helped improve my writing skills. He assigns a lot of work but my writing skills have improved dramatically over the semester! If you want to learn take him. Tough grader but benefit us later in higher level composition classes.

Cave is awesome!! For those that dont like his topics in lecture, this is college! Talking politics, religion, amd sexuality is to get you to form an opinion to write a great essay! First of all I like the fact he is pretty tough when it comes to essays (I got mostly A's) even his homework assignments can be pretty challenging. If you complain about him being hard well guess what this is a college class. I found myself tuning out every day and found his lectures tiresome. He can be really irritating...
