Instructions can be quite vague, but is overall an easy marker. Also, not everyone likes it, but I really enjoy his rants on culture and history!some people say he picks favourites, but if you contribute meaningfully to discussion, he will instantly like you. Would deffo recommend him to others!

Trevor has really inspired me when I was not giving him material that was up to par with the rest of the class he sat me down and had a talk with me about it and gave me a chance to redo all it so I could get a better grade, I really respect him for that.

Trevor has a very long, very entertaining, story for virtually every subject. He connects anecdotes about his own life to lessons in the course, and pushes students to come up with their own theses for their essays. His instructions aren't always clear, but he's not a hard marker, and will take all the time you need to make sure you understand.

His lectures often go down a deep rabbit trail, very rarely did I learn anything during class. But he does care greatly about his students and wants them to succeed. He helped me improve my writing and is always more than willing to help students who need it. Once you get over the fact that he loves talking about himself, he is a really great prof

Best prof I've ever had, not to mention he will help if you ask. He will even work with you one on one if you aren't too ashamed or busy to ask. He is a caring and intelligent prof

Great teacher, easy marker if he likes you! Doesn't like kids who don't participate in class and sometimes has attitude with the ESL students. Good teacher overall, very passionate about his work and the work of first nations.

Trevor is a really great teacher! He is SUPER reasonable with deadlines, and responds lightning-quick to emails from students about assignments. If you're decent at English, you shouldn't have much of a hard time in his class!

Trevor is a down-to-earth professor whose stories transcend time. He learned under Allen Ginsberg & he will remind you of it constantly. Most of the material he teaches is creative writing & is always interesting when he teaches it. If you like professors with stories, spontaneity and/or passion for their work, take his classes any time!

Comment:
Trevor is overall an okay prof. He is very passionate about what is learned in class however, the discussion usually becomes about his experiences and not what we should be learning. Most of the time he is reasonable with his grading but can be very condescending with his essay feedback. I would not recommend his class especially for quiet people.

Trevor overall is a great professor. He is very passionate and serious about the material, if you're not serious about writing it will be tough. He's had a lot of experience in the field, and he will tell you alllllll about it. The syllabus was out of order and confusing to understand. Not good for super quiet/shy people wants participation

He made us write a review on a documentary that he is in. Make sure you are paying attention, though. He calls out on people and you might want to have the answers to them. However, a very knowledgeable teacher.

I was so excited to take this course based on the subject matter, but it quickly turned into two-hour lectures about a whole lot of nothing. Trevor's instructions are very muddled and he deviated from the syllabus multiple times, resulting in a student complaining to admin. I enjoyed the poetry but I won't take a class from him again.

Bruh, let's be honest here: He's an asshat. He's unflinchingly pretentious & spends most of his lectures going over the many reasons why he, Trevor Carolan, published author, is god's gift to mankind. He'll give you insight into the harsh world of publishing because he's "been there" he's "done it all". Trevor Carolan is a menace to society.

Trevor was an amazing teacher and made things very clear. I found this course to e very easy to follow and Trevor was very approachable so that any questions could be answered. I took this course over the summer so we almost always went outside and had class on the grass in the sunshine! I RECOMMEND THIS PROF.

Mr.Carolan is the best teacher I've had, hands down. His lectures are so interesting! He's a cultural guy and you really start to love life a little more when you take his class. I hated English beforehand, but after his class, I can write great essays! If you ask him a question after class, I guarantee you he will give you a great answer.

Trevor is hot. Not because of what he wears or how he looks, but because he knows how to get you published. Take this class. Listen to Dr. Carolan. Get published. If you're an idiot that wants to write notes to yourself about how great you are, then pass on this professor. If you want to be a writer he will edit your work into the sublime.

10/10 -- the best prof I've ever had! Terrific, caring teacher. Passionate speaker, incredibly knowledgeable. Expects you to do give 100% of your effort -- doesn't tolerate carelessness. Always friendly and willing to sit down and chat. You won't get much in the way of notes from his lectures, but you will learn a LOT about the craft of writing.

Trevor is an amazing teacher. I loved the way he assigned smaller assignments. We ended up having so much writing done at the end and it seemed like nothing. I strongly recommend him to anyone who wants to take any English course. I loved how he related things and told stories while keeping us interested! AWESOME PROF! Always there to help!

Would make a better Social Studies teacher than an English teacher. Barely goes through the subject of writing, and lectures mostly on the subjects of our reading material (ex: we read an article about Japan, he lectures us on Japanese culture). Fair marker. Interesting, honest, and funny, but a tad domineering and pretty pretentious.
