Dr. Davis was one of my favorite professors considering how caring and sweet he is towards all of his students. There are only four tests including the final, along with two books that you will be tested over. His lectures cover everything you need to know that will show up on the test. His office hours are flexible and gives plenty of feedback.

Very lecture heavy. 4 tests is your grade. About 30 questions each and 3 short essays. Youll read 2 novels, YOU HAVE TO READ THEM. Allowed 6 unexcused absences. Very kind and interesting. Great professor. Gives you a study outline. Id recommend taking notes via laptop bc its a lot of information. Each test I had about 20 pages of notes!

Agree with the last guy, tells cool stories, interesting- not too hard, a bit of a yawner at times- history is that. He's not the jerk you'd expect him to be with his position at SFA, no ego shadow following his nice guy.

Nicest guy ever but hardest class. Will help if you ask, but tests are still very hard. Only 4 tests to the semester so if you bomb one youre screwed. I studied nonstop for this, reread the notes but me and my friends always had trouble getting above C's or D's on the tests. I barely passed.

Even though the material is very dense, Dr. Davis is willing to work with you to help you out. He will give lots of feedback on every paper and test. It's not an easy class, but if you work hard you will do well.

Dr. Davis is an excellent teacher! He used to be head of the history department and he really knows his stuff. His class is demanding, must study and go to SI, grades hard BUT will make you learn. Do NOT piss him off- he hates disrespect, stupid questions, and cell phones during class, and don't be late (he can freeze your sould with a glare).

Davis is pretty cool. You only have 4 exams the whole semester that determine your grade. He hates it when people use cell phones in his class. Class can be boring sometimes because he stands up and lectures the whole time. If you show up to class and take notes, the class shouldn't be too hard to pass.

Dr. Davis was an amazing professor. His use of his vast knowledge and quick wit always left me wanting to come back to his class. He was one of the biggest influences during my years at SFA and I would recommend him to each and every student. He is challenging but not impossible. Do the work, learn the material, and come out a smarter person :)

Dr. Davis was a prof. I considered one of my mentors. He is the reason I changed to a history major. He is passionate about his work, is extremely helpful, and truly cares about his class. Read the book, take clear notes, and use the study aid and you will do fine! Great man...I miss him now that I am out of school!

DON'T skip! NO cell phones or sleeping. If you stop writing notes for more than 30secs chances are you missed something. Just pay attention in class and take good notes-outlines work best. Write down anything he puts on the board. KNOW his studyguides- they are the tests! It's a fun class- he knows what he's talking about. I got a B+. good luck! :)

He's an awesome teacher and very understanding. Upper level classes seem to be back-loaded... the last paper will kick your bum, at least it did mine. Take him, but be prepared to actually work. Not an easy A, but an A you feel good about, you know?

Very organized. No surprises on the exam. The questions from the novels don't go into great detail. Multiple choice questions are sensible. Grades essay with an eager red pen, especially in upper level courses. Doesn't like his lectures interrupted so wait until office hours for questions. There, he'll be totally helpful.

This class was very organized. There are 4 equally weighed test. Final is not cummulative. Test are mult. choice and a few essays. For the test, he gives reviews which helps. Also all the material comes from lecture, no book. You have to read two novels at the end of the semester--you can get by on sparknotes.
