Comment:
Very easy class. But Ascher is a very poor teacher. 90% of in-class questions he misinterprets completely , 5% he understands but answers trivially without explaining anything (e.g. "believe me it works", or "you should already know this *moves on*"), and 5% he answers properly. Office hours weren't any better. He means well, but he's bad.

Great professor. Clear lectures and reasonable assignments (I found them fun). He wrote the textbook, so his slides are almost identical.

Uri is very interesting, he explains previous lectures to tie lectures together. The assignments take a long time, but are interesting. The midterm was too easy and if you like the subject it is a matter of doing the homeworks and the readings.

No point in me restating what was said below, but i'll do it anyway. His lectures are boring, he spends 20 minutes going over last classes material... then during the class rushes the "current" material. He enjoys teaching the hardest possible concepts before even explaining what the basic stuff is going on

He would be a good virtual instructor, anyways the lectures are useless and all the work is based on the difficulty readable book he is writing. Have prizes, good researcher but the worst instructor in the Department. Typical response to a question "Believe me it works"

Comment:
His lectures were incredibly boring, and a significant portion of the lectures were repeats of the previous lectures - I didn't really learn anything new. Also, he is not receptive to questions. I simply don't recommend him.

The worst professor ever in UBC, the guy can only teach at conferences not to students. His teaching is too fast, he does not properly explain things and constantly adjusts during the course of the lecture. Just when you get used to one terminology he switches. If you can SWITCH TO ANOTHER SECTION NOW. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Bad teacher,!

Very bad professor. I ended up not liking his course not one bit. he thinks everyone understands the material which he makes harder then what it actually is. He is very boring you can fall asleep during lectures, the assignments take up all the free time and do not decide at the end anything!

He CONSTANTLY interrupts his lecture with "hiccups" in his speach. These hiccups are 100% like, "Uh uh uh". This is downright ANNOYING. A good lecturer should NOT disturb the flow of information that comes out of his/her mouth. He

assignments were a bit hard, and so did the midterm. the final was actually pretty straight-forward. don't have to go to class since the written class notes are almost identical to the printed ones.

Great notes, good lectures. Always comes well prepared, offers concise, to the point explanations and examples. Very knowledgable and authoritative. His courses appear to suffer from poor TAs/markers and exams are sometimes too 'clever'.
