Is a great professor and knows her material. However, not open to student comments that go against her beliefs. Favours some students over others, and is tough on marking. Marks for exam questions don't really make sense. DO NOT text/talk in class or she will call you out. One badass woman that isn't afraid of telling you how it is.

If I could rate her less than a 0 I would. Seems almost impossible to please her with work, unhelpful outside of the classroom, lectures often dry. I was excited about her class and receive high marks outside of her classes, but with her lectures, I am very disappointed. Can be rude for no reason. Not a fan of her at all.

Material very interesting but in an overall ancient class setup: straight talk lectures, almost zero opportunity for discussion, two tests straight verbatim from lectures/readings, and one excessive 40% group project. The PR "Workshop" was merely another lecture without any hands-on practice to actually help with the big project.

This women is SUPER intelligent and very knowledgeable about the material she is teaching. Attending class is a MUST. She does not post lectures at all. If you don't plan on attending class, DON'T take her classes. That being said, the classes are well worth going to. She keeps you engaged and very interested in the topics she is teaching.

She's a very interactive prof; plenty of class discussion. Lots of readings, but interesting ones. Write everything down, pay attention to what she says, and you'll be okay. Tests are tough, papers are a lot of fun. Veteran of the dept, need to have her as prof at least once.

She was a very fair teacher and was very helpful during class. Every bit of class was exciting and she dropped many hints for exams. She seemed like the best professor in terms of her teachings. I learned a lot from her class.

You cannot have a degree in Comm and not have Scat as a prof. You would be missing out. I always learn a lot in her classes because she is well-versed in a variety of disciplines and has so much passion. If you are looking for a bird course and you do the bare minimum, have no passion and do not enjoy learning, this is not the prof for you.

If you're looking for a prof where you can just skip class and grab some powerpoints online, look elsewhere. Great lecturer, very clear and passionate. Repeats important points as many times as needed. It's not easy stuff, but go to class and do the readings, and you'll do fine.

Clear, but fast, lecturer with a strong bias towards left-academic theory. She's open to other opinions, but is generally dismissive. Must attend class for optimal learning. Strong, smart, and witty lecturer.

really great class. super informative. expensive coursepack with at least 4 long articles you need to read each week. BUTTT i still really enjoyed myself. she is a fair marker (all short answer tests and a couple of papers). YOU NEED TO ATTEND LECTURE and when you do you will never stop writing for the entire 3 hours :)

She's a good prof and a good lecturer. She's also very passionate about the subjects she teaches and is also very knowledgeable in them. Approachable after class too.Unfortunetly, and this really isn̢۪t a huge deal, her ideas from her 3 classes overlap quite a bit. You need to study for her tests though; no mark comes easy in her class(es).

as a graduate now, Scat is truly one of the profs I will remember and admire. Her classes are informative, structured well and you learn alot about the media and the world. She makes you think and you learn that you need to look below the surface and question how things are in the world and not just accept whatever is given to you.

One of the best and brightest teaching in the graduate program. Extremely conversant on a range of political, philosophical, communication, and sociological theories/discourses. Very accessible to students!

Good course but lectures were unpredictable; there was a PhD candidate in the group and often the focus was on him rather than the 7 other M.A. candidates in the room! A lot of self-promotion as well; but overall worthwhile. Watch out for the temper...

I kept hearing about 'Dr. Scat' long before I set foot in her class. I was cynical and skeptical about all that what was said about her. I was proven wrong. She really is a gem. An enthusiastic lecturer who is really committed to students. I learned a lot from her.
