I wasnt interested at all in the topic, but she made it so entertaining and was so passionate about it, that I kinda got drawn to it and found the motivation to actually read the books. She might be a tough grader, but she is very open to explain and discuss her evaluations on your essays and in most cases youll see that shes right. Also very funny

Dr. Warne's class was the best part of my day. The course may be challenging to those not interested in literature and there is a heavy focus on poetry, but she makes it engaging. She loves participation and knows everyone by name. Vanessa gives great feedback, especially if you see her out of class. I would recommend her to anyone studying English

Really passionate about literature. Though I entered this class thinking I would major in English but she has made me lose all interest. Expects you to remember word for word of 70 poems for final exam, and info about the poems like the publication date. Also very biased. Would not take a course taught by her again.

Dr. Warne is a tough grader, but gives a lot of feedback on how to better improve your papers. Passionate about the subject, and provides background on the historical context of the literature too. Good balance of lecture and discussion in the class.

Dr Warne is the best. She knows what she is talking about and goes through and explains everything to make it very clear. Content heavy. Tough but fair marker. Genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed

This woman knows what she's talking about. She's very good at speaking and answering questions, and she's good at making people feel comfortable participating in class. If you put an effort in, she acknowledges it and learns your name quickly. Although she was engaging, the class is hard so remember to prepare yourself so you can pull through!

Great Prof, engaging and sympathetic (and not a pushover though) and hugely passionate about both teaching and literature. She keeps classes interesting and flowing well, gives extensive feedback, knew everyone's name, just a great educator all around. Also strangely attractive...

She is a tough marker but if you work hard and use her office hours she will give you the tools to really improve your literary analysis and your writing.

She is very enthusiastic and insightful, That being said she is a fairly harsh grader and you will study poetry from september till April. Was not expecting this much poetry and its been a nightmare. My friend is also in 1200 and his prof barely touched poetry. Must remember 60 poems by heart for exam and write essays, much harder than other profs.

She is a very engaging professor with so much insight. If you love English, you're gold with her. It was always interesting! And seriously, it's an English class so if you're hoping for a class that sparknotes heavy, you're looking at a C. Just show up, do the (interesting) readings and assignments and participate!

Dr. Warne was amazing. I had no idea how much value you can get out of a text until I took a class with her. I'm a business major but she made me want to continue in english. Extremely helpful outside of class. Even let me cut it down & hand in an essay a class late w/ no penalty when made it 200 words too long. Inspirational, but not an easy A

Dr. Warne is probably the best prof I've ever had. Before taking her class, Victorian Literature, I absolutely did not enjoy poetry. Her lectures are interesting and dynamic, with participation hugely encouraged. I was pretty shy in class, the first time I contributed to the discussion she left a note on my next quiz thanking me for sharing.

Top-notch educator. Her extensive feedback and honesty is very valuable. In terms of writing standards, I've learnt a lot from her. Great prof to have first-year uni to set the standards high for the rest of your academic career. Demands class participation which can be intimidating but experience is useful. The best prof I've had

Some comments make her sound like she's the greatest prof. ever; she isn't. It takes a while to warm up to her because she can be condescending & intimidating. She's also an unfair marker. If you're looking for lots of class participation, she gets more students to participate than any prof I've had, which is smart because it makes her job easier.
