Comment:
This class is a double-edged sword; he lets you get whatever projects you want to get done at your own pace, but if you leave it to the end, especially the complete process research essay, you can expect an "instant C minus". Interesting lectures, even if he jumps from talking about his love life to what's going to be on the exam in a split-second

Beware that everything is due at the end! I was warned of this by older friends but failed to listen and it costs me in the end. If you space out your work like he suggests you should be ok. The work isn't necessarily hard but it does contain a lot of steps and Cavalli expects deep thinking and thorough insights. He's a pretty nice guy overall.

Enthusiastic teacher, interesting lectures. There is a lot of homework for this class and each assignment involves several steps. Hard marker but makes criteria very clear. Will be required to meet him during office hours and there may be a line up, but it's worth it for an A.

He has an amazing character, but be aware that he is extreme when it comes to your workload. There is a lot of unnecessary work involved in the course. If you're okay with endless hours of work for 1 paper then he is your guy. If you need this class and you are a first year student, I would recommend someone else unless you have a great work ethic!

Cavalli is an incredible professor, I will probably never experience a prof like Vic again. His insight is incredible, and his help within teaching you how to write is brilliant. Except he requires an incredible amount of work from a student. Out of the five courses, I took this semester, his class required the most overall work. Get ready!

Cavalli is an awesome guy and a wonderful professor, but the workload is unreasonable. Requires you to hand in three drafts of your term paper plus the final copy itself, as well as an eight page writing journal and several other steps that take weeks to complete. The material is wonderful and engaging, but not worth the crazy work.

Assignments are due at the end of the semester which can be great or awful depending on your work habits. Quite a lot of work but only one actual paper. If you take this class, you MUST go to his office and show him your work multiple times (sometimes there is an hour long line). He does give you the final exam topic before hand which helps.

Vic's class was amazing. He has high standards but his instructions are so clear that it is not difficult to do well in his class. He is funny and his classes are enjoyable. He also gives amazing feedback so take advantage of his office hours. I would take this class again because I enjoyed him so much.

If you see him during office hours and get feedback you'll probably get a good mark. If you don't, you're screwed. He heavily involves Christian messages into his class and makes it interesting. He is enjoyable as a teacher, but he requires you to follow exactly his style of creating a paper.

One of the hardest classes I have ever taken, and have to redo it as it's a med school prereq and is bringing down my GPA. Worst prof ever if you're a procrastinator.

Vic Cavalli is everything a good English professor should be: insightful, intelligent, passionate, and open-minded. Watch out for the open deadlines, follow his guidelines for where you should be on your assignments, and take advantage of his office hours. You aren't likely to get higher than a D if you don't let him review your essay a few times

Vic marks assignments extremely hard. I worked with a University level tutor and barley passed. His marking criteria is not clear, and he has a very systematic way of completing assignments. He is nice to students and he is funny sometimes.

Cavalli is one of the best professors I have had the privilege of learning under. With that being said though, he does push you to excel. This means there is an enormous amount of reading and work you have to put into this class. If you want a challenge to become the best writer take Cavalli. If you want easy, look elsewhere.

He is hilarious (unintentionally) and beyond sweet. He's incredibly helpful but he assigns a LOT of work for a first year english course. Be prepared to spend countless hours on a group video project.

EXCELLENT professor. Know the syllabus and use his office hours! Lots of work; I found the many little steps he required a little overwhelming. Start the research paper EARLY if you can. He assigned a make-a-video project, which could have been really bad if my group members hadn't done their piece... *Highly recommend the Little, Brown Handbook!*

Heavier work load than some other professors, but he gives all the information for all the assignments on the first day of class so it's very manageable unless you leave it to the end. Take advantage of his office hours, he proofreads your work until it is in his words "perfect". I learned so much and got a great mark by taking the help offered.
