Very ambiguous syllabus and grading. The entire course outline and assignments list was 1 page single sided, with no breakdown of how each assignement was weighed. Gave me the exact same grade on all assignments, which made me think he may not have actually been marking them all. My subpar work earned the same grade as my best.

He was an extremely dry prof; he constantly mumble which made him incomprehensible. His writing was really difficult to read.Luckily, the textbook for linguistics is amazing & taught me everything. Easy marker but study well in advance because you will need the time to teaching yourself. It's not an easy 90 but I did it & so can you.

He comes off as shy and nervous, but that's mostly because he lacks any ability to appropriately communicate his thoughts to the class. Aside from mumbling and reiterating every topic covered, his marking scheme is flawed- he downscores those who write well in French and boosts the marks of those who struggle so that all fall into a niche (60-80).

Dr. Kocay is very kind and soft-spoken. He comes off as nervous at times, but it's cute :) He's a fair marker and I really can't complain about him at all. He's handsome too.. I wonder if he's married?!

Lectures bored me to tears, very repetitive and dull. Tests and exams were easy though and M. Kocay is a very nice soft spoken man who's willing to help wherever he can. Does his best to accomodate everyone but doesn't seem to know how to spice teaching up.

His classes were usually quite repetetive and boring.. but he didn't mind explaining stuff. There were times when he was unable to explain everything so that we could all understand, but he meant well. He qives a lot of quizzes, which was a little annoying, but its a chance to boost up your mark and allow you to see if you were understanding.

HORRIBLE!!! Assumed the whole class was at a Francophone's level and then mixed up half the exam's questions with higher leveled classes' questions! DO NOT take this course from him, you'll regret it! My marks were all in the 75-85 range until I got a 56 in his badly-taught, unfair course!

He is a super nice man, helpful, and really really cares about your mark. However when ppl who took french immersion fail the placement test on purpose to get a better mark, he thinks the whole class is at that level. I had a 95 in Core French in high school, and now have a 66, watch out!

Went over the same material everyday, and at the end we still didn't even understand. Writes really messy on the board, and it's random things that you can't understand. He always mumbles so it's hard to understand him. He is a nice guy though, and doesn't grade horribly, but be prepared to be insanely bored during every class.

Dr. Kocay is rarely availible outside of class, the material he covers in class does not match the material on his exams, when he teaches, he contradicts himself often as far as the french language is concerened. He really knows his stuff but has a hard time conveying it to students. he gives the most random assignmens. but he's a good guy.

Cared about the students, explained pretty well if quietly.. his tests/quizzes were hard but he let us do 2 midterms to make up for it, he's definitely a nice guy.. and handsome, the kind you want to date your mom ;) haha.

Dr. Kocay was a nice guy, but he was clearly unavailable for help after class. On more than one occasion, he was never there for his office hours. Additionally, his exams were quite hard, when he puts on stuff that he told you that was not going to be on the exam, which lowers everyones mark in the class.
