I took this class years ago as a premed student. Now I'm several years into med. I wouldn't recommend this class for others aiming for med. The ethics models taught have yet to be applicable for myself. The class was also very un-open to debate, which is odd given it's a phil class. Save yourself the money and just read "Doing Right" by Hebert.

Worst class I've ever taken. Most classes ran 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs and it was a 3 hour night class. I don't know what she's getting paid for. The group projects were a waste of time - every group got with in 5% and the presentations were a waste of time that could have been spent applying the ethical theories and discussing ethical dilemmas

This professor was without a doubt the most difficult person I have come across since I have been in university. She is impossible to reason with and seems more concerned with maintaining her class average at 70% than marking fairly. Virtually everyone in the class receives the exact same mark on the group project, which is very frustrating. Avoid!

She's a great professor with some interesting ideas on medical ethics. The class is fairly easy, and it definitely helped me prepare for ethical questions on my interview for medicine. Overall, the reason I got into medicine is likely her.

Good overall, accent takes getting used to, but not hard to understand. Concepts are easy to understand and apply. Case studies are all re-used from years prior and marked hard, she compares with the best works of years past. Class was interesting and worth going to.

I loved her as a prof. She explained ideas clearly. She gives you exam questions ahead of time. She keeps you entertained. As long as you go to class you do great. I would definitely take another class from her. She rocks!

she is very unapproachable. i had strep throat the last couple weeks before the final& had missed class. When i turned in my final paper she started lecturing me about how irresponsible i am in front of the whole gym while other students were still writting. Embarrasing & innappropriate.

The beginning of the semester was so easy i got 100%, 90% then after christmas she cracked down , she poorly exlpained the paper and didn't follow what she had said was the guidelines for it. Expected way too much for the final for a first year class. 108 short answers to have done for studying and a essay which seemed harder than the term paper.

She is unapproachable, unreasonable, and before her class I was going to be a philosophy major. Now I'm not. Not inspiring, just plain awful.

No problem acing tests because she basically gives u them before hand. However, attending class makes you want to poke your eyes and ears out. Also, if you try asking her questions and she doesn't know them she'll turn uber-devil on you. Worst professor I have ever had. No joke.

Spoke most of the class without any visual props for those visual learners in the class. Her emails were worded in such a way that makes a person feels stupid when they may have been simply looking for rewording of an assignment. Shows favoritism to some people in the class as well.

Very sweet lady. Really really easy marker too... is it because we did well or is it because she's a nice person? The essence of this class is regurgitation. Just soak up every word that comes out of her mouth like a sponge(which is easy to do)and write it somewhere in your exam paper and you'll get a 90 :p

Very nice personality and easy tests, but you have to go exactly by the book. She says she doesn't want for you to simply rehash the ideas of philosophers, but in reality, that's exaactly what she wants you to do.

As long as you go completely by the book and don't try to interpret at all you will do fine. But don't expect to learn anything useful.

I love this woman! She's a little crazy at times but she makes a class go by fast! Her midterms are super easy -usually 5 written Q's worth 10%. You might have an essay or group project to work on for the other marks. She is super helpful and she loves e-mails! So don't hesitate to ask her anything and she'll usually reply ASAP

Viola is a great prof. Yes she has a very thick accent but she is the most enthusiastic prof I've had. She wants her students to do well, and it shows. She likes to know each student personally so she can tell if you aren't in class, although it doesn't affect marks. She is really funny!!! Has great stories about her husband.

Just reminds me a cute old baba from the old country. Sweet sweet woman. By paying attention in class alone you're ensured to absorb enough knowledge to pass the exams. Allthough it took me two classes to figure out that she was saying "Philosophy" with her thick, Czechoslovakian accent, you will get used to it. She thrives on class participation.
