Assignments may be long, but help understand the course material. He expected you to read the textbook although it wasn't always directly referred to in class, however he referenced it more heavily on the midterm and exam. Some of the assignment questions, midterm, and exam were difficult, but everything is scaled to balance the final marks.

Comment:

All around ineffective professor. Very difficult to understand (and I'm good at understanding several foreign accents after living in Vancouver for years). His lectures are not well structured, chalk board notes are very messy, and he does not tie the course material together. A tutor got me through this one.

It takes a few days to understand this guy, accent can be hard to understand. Most of the assignments are out of the book and are not explained in the book. He leaves out important details in assignment requirements and goes into way to much detail that isn't required at a 1st year course

Thought he was a great prof. Most of the criticism I see is from easiness. Yes he teaches some very tough data courses, but I do think he does it well. Only comment is that it takes a while to follow his heavy India accent (unless it has improved)
