Music students, Kreyzig classes are a much feared and hated necessary evil. But if you aren't in the department of music, seriously, don't take a class with this guy!! He is nice, and passionate, but you will have to work so hard you'll wish you had never heard of music history. 5 unit tests, 1 midterm, 1 HUGE term paper, 1 ridiculous final.

Comment:

At first he was very difficult but once you found out what he expected on tests and quizzes his class became fairly simple as long as you stayed caught up. This class is very important to stay caught up on readings in the text and review you notes often. He is very helpful both in and outside of class and wants his students to succeed. His teaching style is not for everyone. It's definitely a challenge but worth it. Dr Kreyszig is very passionate about music.

His tests are unrealistic measures of intelligence based on the memorization of pointless dates. I took this class under the false pretence that it would be interesting. I have never been more wrong about anything in my life. Walter Kreyszig will transpose you into a failure.

Great guy, HORRIBLE teacher. He taught us advanced theory in a first year non music student classed. Ridiculous rates of failure and dropping out from fellow students. Tests are based on memorization of useless dates instead of important concepts.

this is a tough class, but only because the amount of material most universities have in 4-5 classes is covered in 2 here (soon to be 3). Dr.K is so passionate about history that he can't bear to leave anything out. make sure you meet with him outside of class with any questions you have. If he sees that you are interested, he will help you pass!

Careers in musicology require much work and dedication. His class is a realistic representation of what a career in musicology entails. Those who complain about his style have no real world understanding of a career in music. Yes, study several hours a day for his class, but it will provide the foundation for the rest of your career.

Would be much better off religated to a research position as he cannot teach, if you work extremely hard you may squeak by with a 60%. Dont bother asking questions, he will answer a question, just not the one you are asking. Almost worth going to a different university over.

Best professor I have had. He is incredibly helpful outside of class. All he wants is for his students to succeed. If you are looking for an easy mark do not take his classes. He appreciates those who have a true passion for what his is teaching. He will help you every step of the way and if you work for it, you will get a good mark.

Ok babies. This class is hard. You will fail the first midterm, everyone does. You will fail the second, most people do. The final is tough. But if you're a courteous person, you'll pass. He's just a very intelligent man who knows so much that he doesn't seem to get that most people don't know what he does. Do your best, be on time, you'll pass.

His classes are pretty hard. He's very welling to help out students, and give extra time to woke one one one with students. high expectations. He's not clear when analyzing music pieces. notes taken from his lectures are usualy not enough to cover the tests. taugh marker for the exams and tests. but easy on the term papers.

Class is difficult, but sucking up is easy. Put enough time into the class. Kreyzig is smart, can't teach all he knows. Just show you care about the class (even if you really don't) by asking occasional questions and making a couple of meetings and he'll pass you.
