This class is the best class offered at USC. He only teaches in the fall, and as he ages he gets more discouraged to teach, so take it while you can. He teaches harmonica, and even if you have no interest in music, you will learn so much just by listening to him speak.

Take this class!!!! I looked forward to it everyday! You just have discussions in class, learn to play the harmonica, and write a few journals about some songs. Fairly easy A and Walter is a great guy! He tells great stories and you learn a lot.

Walter is the man. Echoes in Blues is one of the best courses you can take at this university. If you put in the effort, you will get a lot out of the course. Go to his office hours! He is an extremely interesting man and you will learn a lot from him.

Walter is so great. This class was the highlight of my MWF schedule. He's the type of person that you never really forget after leaving his class. He leaves an impact on your life after you listen to him talk about his own experiences. Great professor. Great class.

Harmonica class is pretty easy because most of class time consists of playing the harmonica or talking about anything from frustration over using computers to interracial relationships. Walter is funny and interesting. He's a great teacher and makes you want to learn how to play the harp. He also truly cares about what you think.

A good hands-on class to break up mostly lecture classes I have. There's not much work you have to put into other than learning to play harmonica. You just have to write 10 stories about yourself and read a book or two. His conversations are interesting and you learn a little more about life.

Whoever called Walter a character hit the nail on the head. He can be hilarious to listen to when he's rambling about random things. Not a hard class in terms of brainpower, but it can be worth your while to pay attention. All in all, a fun class with a cool skill gained as an end product.

its a fun class. sometimes you don't feel like playing the harp, but overall it beats sitting in Art 105 taught by Voight. Liniger is definitely a character, very entertaining, i never practiced, wrote all my journals the night before they were due and I got an A.

Wale is a great professor. This class is not as easy as you would expect a class about the harmonica to be, but it is worth it. We read two books and a few short stories. You also have to write a listening journal with 10 1-2 page entries. But all of what you write is about you, so it's easy. Very worthwhile class, and you get to perform on stage.
