He is a very nice guy and very willing to help his students. Show up to every class and make sure you complete the multiple online and offline homework assignments given out every class. Make sure you arrive early for class too...he does not like when you are late. The class was challenging, especially when you come from another University.

WvR is a great professor. In lecture he is very animated and will do anything to try and help the class understand the material better. Sometimes he does go off on tangents. He is very explicit about the information that will be covered on exams so its not too difficult to do well.

Discussions and the reading material were great. He is very smart but often gets on 30min tangents not related to the class at all. He nixed 70% of the papers we were supposed to write and "estimated" our grade on one of two because he didn't give it back to us with enough time for us to revise it. Class was a bit of a joke, although interesting.

Great Professor. More than a few screws loose, but he is the real deal. Has very crass sense of humor. You will learn a lot. Seems a bit daunting at first, but he is really nice and if you keep up with the assigned and suggested work, you'll get an A. Don't get your hopes up about the chili pepper- I'm fairly sure that's a joke.

I took his class on the Origins of Fantasy -- LOVED the topic, papers were a nuissance.. but he is an overall good teacher. His class is one of the only classes I actually look forward to going to!! :) (ps. he's ssexy too!)

I took four classes with him during my time at URI, and I learned far more from him than from any other professor at the school - even if most of it had nothing to do with the subject of the class. He tends to ramble and go off on tangents, but he is brilliant, kind, and not nearly so harsh a grader as he claims to be.

An awesome teacher! He is really funny, and keeps your attention in class. Very helpful. Often goes off on class-long tangents, most of which are actually pretty interesting. Lots of homework..do it and you'll get a good grade. Lots of quizzes too, but they are all announced. His tests are all fair and to the point. Take Reinhart if you can!

This man rocks my entire sock drawer! Loved his fantasy class so much I took the scifi - classes are great, 'lectures' - used loosely because it's such a party - are a ball, reading material is always good and well-chosen. I'd take it again and again if this stupid school would let me; I go sit in as a reward when I skip my useless physics class.
