I was (semi) happy with the class up until the final exam. Some of the questions on the test were completely random and had never been mentioned before. Also, the grades weren't weighted so a quiz on my final grade counted the same as a test (which in my case wasn't a good thing and brought my grade way down).

Comment:

Exams are based off of the textbook and little random tidbits of info that he mentions in lecture. If you don't read the textbook & pay attention in class you will fail those exams. Cheat sheet is allowed but wording on exams is super tricky. Lectures are kinda boring. The lecture + lab structure is a little weird too.

The lectures are not interesting and don't really relate to what is in the textbook. The exams are mostly based off of the textbook; make sure to review notes from his lecture since random information is included from them.

He was an awesome professor for a class I took with him. He is very helpful and is extremely knowledgable in many ways and could probably get away with teaching multiple subjects. A great guy to just sit and chat with and will lighten up your day.

Dr Desmond is easily one of my favorite professors at UHart. he is insanely smart and applies terms in class to real life examples. The textbook is a must have in his class as his exams don't reflect his powerpoints

BEST PROFESOR AT UHA!!! i loved his media and society class this past semester...he really draws you into what he is teaching and is very interesting. great guy and very laid back...he makes it easy to learn and easy to get a good grade as long as you apply yourself...all and all amazing professor!!!
