Comment:
Dr. Wilson does have higher expectations of his students, but if you participate in discussions, show up to class and pay attention, and do your readings you'll be fine. Workload was probably lighter than most 300 level classes I've taken and an A or A+ is doable. This was by far the best course I took in my undergrad!

Comment:
A very interesting lecturer and the content of the course is very intriguing and thought provoking. However, he marks extremely hard for a 300 level anthropology course. His expectations are too high for students and the course materials (excessive amounts of readings that are not consistently followed for exam purposes). Don't expect an A.

Comment:
Very knowledgable, knows how to lecture, content is interesting. However, very high expectations and an extremely hard marker. Not a fan of the structure of his class: no electronics, notes couldn't be printed before class, assignments not marked before exams, too many readings, etc. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, ESPECIALLY WITH LITTLE OR NO BIO BACKGROUND

Comment:
Dr. Wilson is a great lecturer and is very nice and funny. That being said, he clearly states in the syllabus "As are for SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE and should be EXTREMELY RARE" and i found his grading reflective of this. It seems that he is trying to make a point rather than grade accurately. Harder than any of my 400 anth classes. VERY reading heavy.

Very passionate, knows what he's talking about and makes lectures interesting. Doesn't allow laptops in class but lectures and notes are easy to follow. Tests are hard, but he gives an incredibly helpful study guide. Labs are also difficult, but interesting. Pay attention in class and you'll be fine. Textbook not required.

Very passionate. Definitely knows what he's taking about. Makes the material very interesting. Gives a very helpful and clear study guide. As long as you attend the lectures and study along his guidelines, you won't have to read the textbook and you will do fine.

Dr. Wilson was an interesting lecturer and really tried to get students engaged in thinking about the material. That said, exams were tough and grading criteria seemed harsh for a 300 level class. He doesn't allow technology in class which isn't a big deal but may be inconvenient at times. The class was okay but I wouldn't take one from him again.

The lectures are amazing, and he really cares about you. But there are a lot of readings which are somewhat difficult. Heavily genetic based. The tests are mainly genetic based. Seems more of an 300 level genetic course when it comes to the test. Assignments are doable but you need to put in a lot of effort. Not really a GPA booster.

Exams have written section which is marked harshly. I was really dissapointed with this class. Classes interesting but tests are based on readings. Takes a long time to mark and does not post grades on d2l. The expectations are not clearly layed out for exam written response so make sure you ask how to get full marks before the test.

Warren was an absolute gem the whole semester and really made the course content as interesting as possible. The exams were a touch tricky at points, but he gives you a key terms list as well as the short answer questions before hand to help you do better so if you study those, then you're money. Also, if you use a laptop to take notes, beware!

He is brilliant and passionate about the topic, encourages students to speak up and to question everything we are taught. Don't necessarily need the the text a lot, but text specific questions were on all of the tests. The lab was easy but the TA was horrible, if you take it and have problems with you TA switch labs.

I'm in my forth year, and he is the best prof I've ever had. Old school (pen & paper) which is great (laptops=lazy+facebook). He is really clear about what you need to know for the exams (gives you a sheet with concepts and questions you should know). He sometimes gets angry if you don't know an answer that was in the reading, but that's on us.

He is not technology friendly; bring paper and a pen. Also, he has a temper. Make sure you do the readings if you are going to attend class. I did no reading and attended class about 50% of the time and got 70% on the first exam. Lab is a great grade booster.

This was the best class I've taken in university as the prof made it so enjoyable. Tests are slightly more difficult then usual and if you haven't taken any evolution or genetics courses then you may find some concepts challenging. If you enjoy genetics and human variation then I highly recommend the course!

Awesome prof and interesting course. The lab component is fun and a huge grade booster. He gives study guides before the exams which are very helpful. He expects you to buy the text but I didn't and still got an A+. Just make sure you go to class because his posted slides can be confusing.

Fantastic prof! One of the best I've had so far, he really enjoys what he's teaching and likes to crack jokes to make it a fun class. Very helpful when you need him and he provides a study guide to help you succeed. Note no electronics in his class though!

Absolutely fantastic professor. I love just going to his office hours and chatting to him about things that may or may not pertain to the course material. One of my all-time favorites! Will definitely try to take more courses with him.
