Wendy is a great prof and very knowledgable and if I was in Sociology I will take another class with her. Exam questions are provided ahead of time and the final was harder than I expected. The paper was 15 pages and a drag to write. Overall she is very friendly and approachable and gives good feedback!

Best professor I have had at SFU. Very passionate and engaging, which added to the awesome-ness of the class since the topic was super interesting. For the exams (2 midterms), her practice exams were tremendously helpful, they could not be any more helpful. The final paper, although 15 pages, was on an immigrant story so it was fun to write.

She's a hard marker because she doesn't really lay out what she expects from you, so you have either ask a lot of questions to get it out of her or have had taken her class before, to know what she wants. Midterms are fair. The classes are pretty engaging and she always ends the class with a movie. I personally, didn't like her as a prof...

I'll start off by saying the material of this class was extremely informative. That being said, the first in-class exam was a bit of a bomber. For a specific question, the expectations were not clear, thus a lot of students did worse than they thought they did (myself included). The paper is minimum 15-pages and it was a bit of a drag to write.

I didn't enjoy her but I didn't hate her either. She was helpful and responded to emails ASAP. She also listened to the classes suggestions which was great! I feel that her marking was fair and easy at times. The first midterm was hard but I think she marked easier on the second one. Overall, I would take another class with her! Loved her videos!

Wendy's lecture are interested because she incorporates notes and a video at the second half of the class. Just remember to do her commentaries which are due every single week and she requires you to bring in a story from the news or your personal experience about that week's topic

Changed the required number of sources for the essay after everyone had handed their essays in already. How is that fair?

Wendy is a great teacher! Sa 345 is by far the best class I have taken at SFU thanks to Wendy. Interesting lectures, related to the course, exams and paper. Even though it was a 4 hour class she was able to keep my attention. Easy marker, she even gives you the exam questions a week before the exam! And little to no group work, A+ Wendy.

Comment:
Wendy lacks the intellectual confidence to accept opposing pts of view, and uses the class as a vehicle to force her very biased political beliefs. Shows OPEN DISDAIN for those who disagree. While marking is fair, I still bristle when I think of this class and how she pushes this politically correct White Guilt Complex. Just disgraceful.

Lectures and readings were interesting. Fair marker. Assignments are clear and concise. Not a hard class, but not easy. Uses quite a bit of filler words (yeah, like) which can be annoying at times. Overall, enjoyed her class. Good prof!

class is somewhat necessary. you the practice midterm questions the week prior, and they will be same questions that would show up on the midterm. as well take home final is same format. however the readings are very useful, as you will have to incorporate into final/midterm and paper assignment.

This is a gender class that was good up until Wendy was faced with questions with regards to why the course focuses on FEMINISM and why people have not converted to being one. This was an ok course, but needs revision. Her yah...is just as annoying as her over emphasis of feminism. Get over it Wendy...

This class was very interesting and very rewarding, if you're willing to put the effort in. Potential exam questions were handed out in advance. Papers were very specific (guided analysis). She marks fairly and will penalize you if you bs. She uses filler words consistently when she lectures (yeah, ok, right), which can sometimes be annoying.

Wendy does a good job of presenting the material. Class discussion is encouraged. If you're a quiet person I don't recomment the class. A lot of the articles used were recent. No exams.
