Comment:
I took English classes during CEGEP and really liked them, so I thought I'd do the same thing during my first semester at McGill and I don't regret it at all! Prof Wes' class is really interesting and a breath of fresh air from my 4 PSYC classes. He looks for pretty specific things during exams, but his lectures are really interesting and worth!

Comment:
His lectures are completely unstructured and disorganized. It makes it almost impossible to take notes during lecture, because he goes from one idea to the next with no clear theme. He writes a lot of words on the board that are not at all relevant for exams. Impossible to learn how to study for his exams. Tough grader.

A great human being! Really considerate in the way he gives information and how it might benefit students. Lots of readings, but understands that it is a lot.

Professor Wes Folkerth is the reason I continued to take English at McGill. His lectures are engaging and quirky and he loves to see his passion for literature and drama reflected through his students. Very approachable and reasonable grading-wise. Reading load is bit heavy with almost a play a week, but it's worth it!

Very nice professor, though lectures could be boring. Did not need to buy all the books (only the poetry and short story ones..)

Excellent lecturer! It was his first time teaching the Shakespeare class and it was great. 11 plays and a long poem in one semester is A LOT, but overall Wes is a great prof. Knows what he is talking about, entertains the class and is extremely clear with material and expectations.

Not only is Wes passionate about the subject that he teaches, but he makes it easy to follow along in his lectures. Class is fun to attend because of his great sense of humour. Additionally, he gives clues for the final essay questions for exams making a good mark possible. He made me remember my love for english literature after ENGL 203.

Professor Folkerth is a terrific professor. His lectures were very entertaining. I really enjoyed his sense of humour, and laid-back West-Coast attitude. Oh, and the man is FINE! He looks like an older version of actor William McNamara. Great job, he also looks a little like Richard Gere!!!

I wasn't the biggest fan of the class structure and the speed that we moved through long works, but I definitely liked Wes as a Prof. He's light-hearted, knowledgable, and often funny in his lectures. It's something to look forward to when he reads aloud from the textbook, he can nail most dialects.

Wes is unbelievable- he's genuinely kind and understanding. Rather than having a teaching philosophy of rigid rules and strict discipline, he just speaks about literature as something he loves and knows well, making his lectures wonderful. When I needed an extension, I asked for a day, and he emailed me back kindly offering a week. He's a saint.

The best English professor I've encountered at McGill. He stimulates enthralling class discussions, he's open to new ideas and interpretations, his feedback on essays is thorough and helpful while never condescending or snide. He gave me fresh insight and perspective on Shakespeare plays I'd read douzens of times before. A true gem.
