Professor Acres was one of the best professors that I have had thus far. He is easily accessible, funny and takes a genuine interest in his work. He goes the extra mile to help you out and gives you feedback all the time as he want you to succeed.

Rarely gives feedback making it difficult to improve on anything. Takes a long time to hand things back. Is rude to students and people in general. Uses his power quite inappropriately. Reading in this class is very important. Be prepared for criticism that is non-constructive! Lectures are not organized however, course content is interesting.

This course was one of the most interesting courses I've taken as a Science student. Professor Acres is extremely passionate about what he teaches, and knows all of his material by heart. Make sure to come to his classes! Since his classes are small, he remembers all of his students' names. Thank you Professor Acres! ^o^

Did very minimal readings and cruised by with a 70. If you want an 80 in the class you really have to have to read. The only reason I could do less of the readings is because I went to class. If you plan on skipping then get ready to read. Grades fairly but still tough. Also, buy the course pack.

Unlike some people, I don't think Professor Acres is particularly intelligent. Confusing lectures. Lazy. Doesn't answer questions. Takes too long to return papers. Sometimes loses papers.

I took his History of Crime course as an elective in my fourth year. Honestly was the best prof I had ever had. With that said, there is a heap of reading to do for the course, and in order to well, you must keep up to date. If you follow the structure of the course, you'll do great. His lectures are long and without powerpoint, so take good notes!

Comment:
Lectures poorly organized and assignments unclear. Very slow to return papers, if he does at all. Don't bother with office hours: no privacy, he has several students at once and you will not get his attention. That is, when he bothers to show up for office hours at all. Thinks much too highly of himself and is condescending to students.

Exams are impossible and only cover 2% of what you have to learn. Content for one of his exams covers over 250 bold terms and was only 60 questions..

He is not a hard marker. However, I think he is overrated. His lectures tend to be confused and disorganized. He is sometimes late and takes too long to return assignments.

Awesome teacher, loves his field. Only fault is he is not prompt with returning papers and has been known to lose papers in the past.

Took Acres' history of crime course this semester and loved it. Hes enthusiastic and very knowledgeable on the subject. His lectures could use the support of slides however and his assignments are usually unclear. But...if you ask questions, Acres is more than happy to clear things up! Highly recommend this professor.

Although he uses somewhat difficult resources to get his points across, any history student with a brain can figure out his shtick. I wish he would focus less on the middle ages, but that is his expertise. His use of WebCT is extremely poor, and his assignment outline was titled for a different class; not very professional.

Acres is really interesting, and is clearly an intelligent guy. His class is fun because he has so much energy. Unfortunately his exam questions are ridiculous and he is VERY lazy in grading/handing back tests in a suitable amount of time. He also canceled all but one of the class trips promised, again I think due to his own laziness.

Took Both CGS Courses, Dr. Acres is incredibly knowledgeable and very interesting to listen to. He likes to go off on a tangent in class and doesn't use slides. Very unorganized, essays are always posted late, at times very slow to respond to e-mails (sometimes he doesn't he even respond, at other times he gets back to you within a day or so).

History of crime is a fantastic class, and Dr. Acres is a great prof. The experience is not at all easy, but that's partially what makes it so rewarding. Work through the confusion in the material and enlightenment will eventually follow. My only complaint is that he doesn't teach enough classes, because I would sign up in an instant!

He'd be great to listen to if you didn't have to worry about performing based on his rants academically. You'll enter 7 lays of hopelessness trying to decipher what on earth you should be getting out of History of Crime.
