Literally nothing positive to say about this prof. His lectures were a mess, his voice quiet, dull and slow and material was unclear with the basic concepts skipped over and complex integrals randomly dropped. Going through the past exams and attempting to understand them is the only way to make it through this course.

Comment:
This class was the worst. The prof is obviously too old to teach. He forgets everything, never hands assignments or exams back when he says he will. His curriculum is purely based on his own scientific theories and analogies and not on the actual Phys Chem curriculum others teach. I still have no idea how anyone is meant to do well in this course.

Drop this course before the deadline. If you're in biochem, then you're screwed. Worst teacher I've ever had. Midterms are made of ~5 questions. There's no effort in his slides and he has annoying ticks. He talks about a stupid misconception on energy release which is the highlight of his dim career. Seems nice, but worthless as a teacher.

Get ready to research online how to do every single problem, to try to figure out how to even pass this course. This course was a constant source of stress, with no clear outline or topics to refer to when doing problems. He spends all lecture rambling incoherently about advanced topics before explaining basics. Hands down worst prof of my degree.

Rambles on about complex topics without introducing basic concepts. Has incorrect equations on his slides and exams. Tests exclusively on material he barely mentions in class or doesn't mention at all. The only way to do well is to memorize his previous exam questions...if you can figure out the answers that is.

Just...don't do it, though you may have to. Worst lecture experience in recent memory, mumbles, has irritating voice tics. Lectures are all but non-linear, has a true gift for making material intimidating.

Probably the worst class experience at McGill thus far. B/w the errors of key formulas, the ridiculously unfair midterm, and the lack of practice problems, past exams, course pack and textbook use, I was really just happy to pass the course. Lectures are not recorded so try to brave the lectures if you can. Of course, the slides won't be up yet...

Terrible professor. Seems like a nice guy, but you can't understand what he says, he doesn't use powerpoint properly, he doesn't go from the textbook, the assignments always have errors on them, and we don't have a coursepack. Just terrible.

The material seems a little intimidating initially, but it's really quite easy, just do a few practice problems. Galley mumbles a lot, which can make his lectures hard to follow, but he is clearly a very smart guy, and if you really pay attention to what he is saying, as well as read the slides and course pack, he explains things very well. Easy A.

This guy is horrendous. And I'm weighing my words. I guess he would be ok if we had a course pack and past exams to rely on, but it's his first time teaching this section and he's goddamn awful. He tought us something *during* a midterm.

Most ratings say he's bearable if you can rewatch the recordings. BEWARE that his higher-level classes like Spectroscopy are NOT recorded. The material isn't too hard, but taking the class with him means you will be stuck teaching yourself... and there is no official textbook. Therefore, if the class is not recorded, avoid him like the plague.

Galley is definitely a mumbler, but going to class can be fun for his cute little demos (like getting up on the desk and showing his golf swing). Easy material taught in a straightforward way (no calculus, few formulas). He runs weekly tutorials which can be very helpful if you come prepared with questions. Definitely take this class over CHEM 204.

Extremely painful to listen to, but what he lacks in teaching he makes up for in EXTREMELY easy exams. I dont understand how some failed the midterm when it was an EXACT replica of questions from past tests he gives us to practice from, including the answers. Practice exams + reading course pack = easy A. Trust me, take this instead of Chem 204!

Amazing prof although many will disagree. The only problem is that the class is slow, however you can just re-listen to the lectures at fast pace. Exams are fair, all from previous exams. Responds to e-mails if you have questions. Seriously, overall the class isn't that hard at all if you put in the effort!

he's not THAT bad, neither is the course all that hard, it's quite standardized with predictable exams. the trick is READ & TAKE TIME TO UNDERSTAND IT, & do lots old exams (like all other courses). pay close attention in class, Galley tends to murmur important pts. & no, you don't need the txtbook, course pack is more than enough, if you just READ!
