I loved his half of this course (though maybe because the first half was so boring!). Tends to ramble, but incredible insight and passion for the subject. VERY helpful with use of WebCT, and responded quickly to personal inquiries. I will definitely seek him out next year for another religion course.

If you are a self-directed learner, this course is for you. Has a way of gently directing you into new directions. Encourages exploration into off the wall topics. Not an easy marker. Loves to talk about his days in Japan. Tangential thinker (and speaker). Don't bull**** him- he's sneaky smart..

Prof. James really developed my passion in religion. He demands a lot of reading (11 novels for a 0.5 course) but if you do your work, you will be rewarded with good marks. I loved him!
