He cares a lot about his students and is happy to help with papers/exam prep if you ask. He takes the time to learn his student's names and enjoys joking around with them or having normal conversations in passing. He is well prepared for his lectures and tells them like stories. Best prof at Guelph!! He is enthusiastic, knows his material, and is encouraging of ALL students, regardless of academic background. (non-history major or grades) He wants all of his students to participate and accomplish results There is a lot of readings and assignments in this course, but his marking is very reasonable.

Dr. Cormack is entirely fantastic. He is very clear and concise in his lectures. He goes out of his way to get to know every student by name. You can tell he takes a genuine interest in what he does. He is a fabulous professor, I thoroughly enjoyed his class and highly recommend him. Hoping to take another of his history courses next semester.

He made learning history a joy. I really loved this class. He's very enthusiastic about history and it comes through in his teaching. He will make an effort in remembering your name and is usually very good at remembering it. Make sure to go to class as that's the best way to absorb the material as he actually makes it entertaining.

Took History of War and Society as an elective (I'm in engineering), found his lectures to be interesting. Found the tests to be fair if you attended the classes and read the material. Also thought the marking as fair. Seems like a good guy.

He was an amazing professor, he likes to simply lecture, which some people may not like as a primary method of teaching, but I found his lectures very articulate and interesting. He was excellent at responding to questions and really wanted his students to do well.

I would completely disagree with everything that has been said. Cormack is a selfish prick with no academic merit and seeks to only confuse and berate his students whenever he can. Never take a class with this man, he is boring, monotone and incapable of teaching.He should just sit in his office and write books and papers.stay out of the classroom!

Great professor. He is the epitome of history prof with his comb over and elbow patches and tweed jacket. Passionate about history, fair marker. I didn't really like how the final was all essay based. Midterm was fair. Take his course.

I've had Dr. Cormack many times and he's my all time fave. Always very helpful and caring, he is always excited about his material and gets everyone else excited as well. I've recommended him to friends and they all come back raving about him. Best history prof you can get at U of G in my opinion.
