Comment:

Prof. Snead talks a LOT and 99% of what he talks about has nothing to do with the class and rather issues that are occurring in society, especially racial injustices. He tends to force his opinions on students, which can be very uncomfortable at times. The class revolved around a lot of writing and a few tests that were easy if you pay attention.

The tests are based on the textbook so if you study that, you'll be good. Going to class means watching a film and then listening to him rant. He likes to call on people who aren't raising their hands so just be ready with an answer, whether it's right or not.

All he does is talk for 2 12 hours. No lab time. Does not show you how to use equipment. Is never clear about assignment. He always says he assigned something but didn't and the whole class argues with him it but apparently we are all wrong. Don't take him!

Mr. Snead is quite a character. He wants his students to excel and encouraged my class to enter local film festivals. Pay attention in class, read the book, and do the assignments and you'll pass.

I love Mr. Snead, he cares a great deal about his students. He really wants you to succeed. However, class time is not helpful. He will easily stray off the main subject. Prepare to do a lot of learning by yourself if you take this class or Mr. Snead in general. One class he is really good in is the MCOM 117. I would recommend him for that ANY DAY.

Rent the book The Art of Watching Film, (two are stated as required, but this is the only one you'll need). Read it, taking notes as you go, and you will easily get an "A" in the course. Lectures are utterly void of usable information- a shame because the man knows his stuff, but appears to expect very little of his students.

Showed up horribly late or not at all first half of the semester. you learn nothing from his lectures. he teaches more 'life lessons' than terminology you need to know. he always makes crude comments having to do with sex or something which is kinda funny but gets annoying quick!! i wouldnt take him again

Ok. Snead was absent and had another teacher come in. I learned more from the other guy in 90 minutes than I have from Snead all semester. DON'T TAKE HIM! Compared to the other guy Snead knows nothing!

I showed up to this guys class a total of 6 times if that. Got D's on all my exams. Turned in all homework late as hell and he still passed me with a C. If your looking for an easy elective, then you can definitely ace his class if you try!!

He's actually not bad, I found him funny. He was pretty lenient with due dates and attendance. At the end of the day he just wants you to have an opinion about the movie. The movies we saw this Summer 09 were really interesting...I really enjoyed the class. Make sure you do do the work, participate in class and don't take what he says to the heart.

Once again, I have to take Snead. While he may know how things "work" he can't teach them to the students. He talks too much and does not explain assignments very well. He criticizes and marks us down on things he "Thought" he explained and what He thought HE made "clear". He needs to consider retirement

HE IS ALRIGHT. DON'T EXPECT MUCH FROM HIM. HE LOVES TO YELL AND TALK ABOUT WEIRD TOPICS LIKE SEX AND DRUGS. HE KNOWS ALOT BUT SOEMTIMES HE TESTES YOU BY PUTTING YOU ON THE MAP AND WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE UNTIL YOU SAY THE ANSWERS HE EXPECTS. I HAVE HAVE TAKEN HIM BEFORE AND I AM NOT SUPRISED W/ HIS TACTICS. Who the hell hired this guy? I have taken many college classes and he is the WORST so called teacher I have taken. He yells at you and belittles you. His concepts of TV are not even close to the industry. I related some of the topics to my supervisor at a local TV station and he laughed at them. He is still better than Emami, but not by much.

He has a unique sense of humor. He likes to yell a lot. If you don't like being yelled at then don't take him. If you like to yell back then by all means take him. Places undo importance on reading material, and overestimates time involved, which could be a good thing if you rush your projects and hate reading the book.

Half the stuff he says you wonder if it came out of his mouth or his ass, because it's all bull****. He teaches inaccurate stuff and can't keep politics out of the classroom. In 117, he constantly missed breaks, kept us late, etc. He also didn't let people touch the equipment until half way through the semester and expected everyone to catch up.

seems like a nice guy, but tends to go off on tangents & stay on those topics rather than teaching the movie terminology we should know. 2 long papers. and a film review for each film need to be done. I didn't have to read the book to get As on the tests, but I've taken a movie class before.

Way too much work for a film class. There are several assignments. Long Papers... Boring Text. Dont take his last class of the night. He does not respect his students time. He often misses breaks, and runs late. He loves to talk about everything but what you need to know for the tests. If you want to get your $$$ worth take this class.

Basically he just gives it to you the way the industry is going to give it to you. If your lazy your not going to get anywhere. And he expects decipline. He does ramble and it gets frustrating but still a great teacher. Snead's 120 is an extremely time consuming course but very rewarding.
