Comment:
I took General Physiology Laboratory with Dr. Stark. One thing that I didn't like is that his lectures can be pretty dry, and it can be hard to hear him, at times. He also uses podcast, instead of tegrity, which bothered me. Genuinely cares about his students, though . Midterm and final were entirely composed of old test questions.

Never went to class and only studied his old test questions. His test questions are very similar to his old tests. Pretty fair grader.

I think I could have done well in this class had I not gone to any lectures at all. Khan Academy saved my semester for this class - it explained the core concepts really well, and going to his lectures would teach me what he was looking for. Also, he was extremely great at responding through email.

(Human Physiology for BME students) His voice is a little monotone, but he is a very friendly, approachable professor. His tests are all fifty short-answer questions, and if you study his past exam questions, you will do well (no book needed). Go to class and ask questions! He's done fascinating research, and I enjoyed his class and stories.

(Human Physiology for BME students) His voice is a little monotone, but he is a very friendly, dry-humor, approachable professor. His tests are all fifty short-answer questions, and if you study his past exam questions (would recommend making a powerpoint with Q&As for each exam to study), you will do well (no book needed). I enjoyed his class.

Very smart, knows his stuff, but is not the best at articulating thoughts during class. Can be upbeat at times and is willing to help, but reading is a must and looking at all of the notes/past tests is necessary to a good grade. Classes can be boring at times but he is a great person.

Very interesting class, but pretty difficult. Online outline for course is very useful, specifically the previous years' tests. It is MANDATORY to study those tests if you want an A in this course. Pretty disorganized and rushed overall.

Great guy, however not a great teacher. Lectures are often rushed through and tough to follow. I stopped going to class and actually started doing better on tests. Study the past test questions and read over skeletal notes to do well on tests. If you want he puts all his lectures online if you ever need his take on something.

Extremely boring. When I did go to class I fell asleep. He puts podcasts online so if you want notes you can listen to that. You can read the book if you want, but it does not help that much. He always puts a few completely random questions on the test. Somehow I got an A, but I pretty much taught myself just from being in other Bio classes.

Professor Stark is a good man....really nice! His lectures, however, are very random and hard to pay attention to. (this is mainly my own opinion). His tests cover small details and the whole class is memorizing. Use his practice questions, as they are very helpful for his test. Also utilize his outlines and you should be fine.

Hilarious in class sometimes. But that's pretty much it for what's good about him/his class. If you have him, GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES on his outline he gives. Pay attention in class or else it's impossible to study for after the lecture because nothing will make sense.

He puts all the podcasts for his class online so you don't have to go to class which is nice... but his lectures make NO sense and he only tests on stuff that he's interested in rather than stuff from the book so its impossible to study for. tough tough tough class

I thought this class was pretty easy. Pay attention in class the first time, relisten to his podcasts (yes, he records his classes for you) as your source of studying, and you will do good on his tests. His tests come straight from what he says during lecture, so it's foolproof.

Oh Starky...you will definitely have to study for this class if you want an A. The tests are ridiculous in that he asks you about the most minute details of his lectures. He does provide outlines of his lectures and I recommend using them!!! I book often provided better explanations than he did, but you still should go to class!

hard class but really interesting material. you mostly have to teach yourself everything. be prepared to study at least 3 hours a week in order to understand. he gives notes to print out, but they don't really make sense so be prepared to take your own. attendance not completely necessary.

He is science genius, but a terrible teacher. His notes don't make sense, he doesn't follow the book, and you feel defeated because no matter how hard you study for tests, it's impossible to get an A or B. If at all possible, don't take this class.
