This was by far my favorite instructor from college. My brother and I took every class that we could of his because he is so fantastic and interesting. I learned more from him about life than anyone else and am still a vegetarian 10 years later because of his class "The Psychology of Non Violence" which he created.

I'm not sure why the other people did so bad! During the videos, I just read the book and semi-studied the guide. He doesn't lecture THAT much but most test info is from the book anyway. I did awesome without devoting much time outside of class... He even emailed me personally to let me know I got an A+ in his class!

This is the worst prof. I ever had. He didn't teach class and we always watched videos. The exams he gives are irrelevant and very random. He didn't care about his students and to be completely honest he is a jerk.

The worst professor I've had at UMD. I am a psyc major and have a 3.9 grade point (until this class) and barely got by with a C. I enjoyed the material but the prof was absolutely horrible. I studied hard for each test and still found them difficult. Very impatient with students.

It's pretty easy. Going to class is pretty much pointless. As long as you read the chapters by yourself and use the workbook. That's all you have to do. You get to retake each test 3 times, but don't wait until the end to study.

The tests are quite abstract, I read the chapters and still never got a perfect score on the quizzes. Lecture is okay, many movies which sometimes seemed repetitive and boring, but the guy that hit girls was crazy. A weird class.

Thomson's lectures are easy to follow. He was a little impatient explaining his grading system. His tests are a little difficult because they're based on the lectures and seemingly random things from the book. No easy A, but I got one.

If you do not keep up on the readings you will not do well in this course. Can be a bit boring but most of the info is relevant and his tests are based on both lecture and readings so you do need to attend the classes. I got an A+ with moderate effort.
