No use in going to the lectures, labs is where you do the most learning.

Get ready to get wrecked. Make sure you get the lecture slides as he did not give them out which was really annoying. **LABS WILL HELP YOU ALOT**, group up and divide lab assignments as they take up a lot of time! DO THE PAST EXAMS as they are similar to what you can expect on the midterm/final.

Incredibly knowledgeable, but terrible at relaying it to students. every once in a while there was a pearl of wisdom to take away but most of the learning was in the lab. Notes are terrible as most are scans of a 1960's mineralogy text. 98% memorization and there is A LOT!!

The lab and studying is where you will get the learning done. Pan's name just goes on the exams.

Amusing accent, I found the labs 10x more helpful than the lectures but ATTEND the lectures. He keeps track of who shows up and who does not. If you constantly skip he'll wreck you on your midterm/final just by marking as hard as possible. I found the first half of the class genuinely interesting/challenging.

He may be a genius but not a good teacher. I attended all of his lectures and saw the dwindling attendance.

OK LETS UH.. GET STARTED! (If you've taken a class with him, you will understand) The actual course can be tough at times, and sometimes he is unclear, but this guy knows his stuff. Amazingly smart in mineralogy. Good sense of humor too

Don't believe the horror stories you hear about 224. Dr Pan is awesome, although he can be hard to understand sometimes. Go through the exam file for this class, as he recycles a LOT of questions.

Nice, helpful guy, tricky to understand at first. Photocopy his binder! Textbook is vital. If you work hard + try to understand it (not just memorize) you can do very well (i got a 90!) Labs help for understanding. Exams are fair. He put a ? on the midterm that wasn't supposed to be on there and just gave us the 15% for it. Wants you to pass!

Pan's tests are trivia. He gives you notes, and says it's all fair game, and he'll pick the most obscure part to test you on. But he's funny, he's fair, and he will answer you questions. He's a good proff
