Comment:

Funny professor and tries to much a rather dry subject funny with weird anecdotes and side stories. Lectures were essentially useless, 90% of the class is the group project however its not the majority of the grade. Just cram the review guides before the tests and you'll be fine.

This professor is so far the worst one I have met in Towson, he was never about the requirement for his assignment. Our group worked really hard and had to communicate with him multiple times since he was NEVER clear. He also is very very unfair on his rating, I worked really hard in his class but still I got a 79.5, such a werid and strange person

Lectures consist of him reading the PowerPoint slides verbatim and abandoning example problems after one step. Grades are rarely updated, so you don't know where you stand, and on multiple occasions we found errors in his homework solutions. Attendance (graded) constantly hovered around 50 percent; need I say more? AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Dr. Song goes makes use of all the lecture time. Make sure to read the chapters before going to lecture. That way you have questions. He likes questions from the class. He tries to relieve the class(it was during the night) by making funny comparison's with the content being covered at times. He's always willing to help with understanding content.

Comment:

A lot of people cry about how hard Song's classes are. You must expect to be spoon fed like the rest of your know-nothing, check cashing professors have been giving you for the last three semesters. Song doesn't do that. You go to his class, you grasp the information he gives to you, and you come out a stronger person because of it. Take 411 first!

Decent professor, however his midterm and final can be very challenging since you need to memorize a lot of material. Students performed poorly on the midterm so he had to curve the grade. Project was fairy easy since I am an experienced software developer. Lectures can be long and fairly boring so bring a large redbull to power through them.

He is a very helpful professor and a fair grader. He does seem to attempt make the course content fun (although he tends to fail at this) since this course itself is very dull and boring but definitely an important class to take as it may be very helpful once you're out in the real world.

Lack of explanation regarding assignments. Stated in class, "A Software Engineer does not need to know how to program (code)" which is ridiculous. Unfair and inconsistent grading. If you absolutely must take his class, just keep your mouth shut and listen even if he asks you a question, otherwise you WILL face his wrath when he grades your papers.

3 out of the 5 group members in my group dropped the class. The professor is not clear on what he wants. Professionally, I've been developing software for more than a decade and this Software Engineering class was useless. If you value your money, time, and GPA stay away form this professor.

Do not take this Professor. Terrible Professor. The projects were not clear, and grades were not explained. Midterm was only about 10 multiple choice and essay with very little time, so it doesn't matter if you studied hard because if you miss two multiple choice there goes 15%-20% of your midterm grade.Ended up Dropping and losing my $2K dollars.

I was nervous to take Software Engineering I, because I didn't hear/see any positive feedback on Dr. Song. I have to say that I was very surprised at how helpful he was. He was always available & explained exactly what he wanted from the class. There were no surprises from him. I enjoyed taking his class & would take him again for another course.

This professor is very helpful. Generally, all students( the lazy ones) like open books and online exam. Since this professor compel us to learn and go to the library to take an exam, it will be very useful to us to remember what we learn, and use it in our job in the future.
