This guy knows how to teach econ. Easy questions on the exams and very lenient on grading. He knows majority of the people in the course are not econ major so he makes the subject a bit easy for the class. PLEASE READ! AVOID TAKING NINH NGUYEN FOR ECON 1A and 1B, HE'LL FAIL YOU! Take this professor if you want to experience leniency!

Although this teacher has an accent, the course materials and course notes are pretty straightforward, you don't even have to open the book. The accent plays no factor. If taking Econ 1A in the future, you have an easy A with this one.

Don't let the asian name or accent rumors fool you. Shieh speaks English jus fine unless your whiteboy. Shieh is a great teacher, reasonable assignments and exams, plenty of practice tests and easy hw online. Prob the best Econ teacher imo, he's old but very knowledgable and kind. Attend each class tho it's worth it and not bad

Although he is very hard to understand, he grades very easily on quizzes and midterms. His lectures are very hard to understand but if you go to him during his office hours, he clears up everything that you need help with. Plus, an 85% is an A- in his class.

I really enjoyed this professor, his accent took sometime to get used to, but it wasn't as bad as everyone else makes it out to be. Also, if you show up to class and show that you are really trying your best, then he will practically help you get an A. You can go up to him during an exam and ask how to do a problem and he will help you answer it.

Besides the fact that he is very incomprehensible in his lectures, he's a very conservative individual and although he does know his material, he does not make it clear what needs to be known and what does not need to be known. His notes and handouts tend to conflict with the book. I had no problem with his homework.

He's a great professor!! TAKE him. Just do the online he which is easy and he gives samples to every quiz and midterm. He also posts his notes online. Recommend him!

He's not HORRIBLE. he knows what he's teaching. it's just the fact that he has an asian accent and you can't understand waht he's trying to say. I think he genuinely wants the class the pass and do well. you can tell he knows his material and what he's teaching. just not in ENGLISH. do the online hw, make use of his practices quizzes and exams.

Very hard to understand him. Boring lectures, basically reads off the overhead. Helpful if you go see him during his office hours. A lot of assignments, so if one does bad on an exam, other assignments help raise the grade.

Pretty easy teacher. His accent can be hard to understand. HW is online and pretty straightfoward. He has samples of quizzes and tests, so they're easy to study for. I only went to class half the time (for weekly quizzes) and ended up with an A-. Nice guy too.

His accent is a bit thick, but not too difficult to understand. He goes over each of the chapters in class & also posts samples for the quizzes and the final online so those are easy to study for. He gives a few take home quizzes too and drops the lowest quiz from your grade.

Almost incomprehensible with a very thick accent. Many students stop coming because of it and just read the lecture notes posted on his website. His exams are tough and are long, but I suppose if you paid attention in class and read the book you can easily pull off an A because the curve is so fat.

I just dropped this class one week into the sem. DO NOT TAKE..unless you want someone that can't speak english that is. all of us were trying to make sense of him but couldnt. I could not understand a darn thing. It is beyond me of how SJSU could allow someone to become a full time professor. He may know a lot but can't teach. take malek instead.
