I was always scared to ask a question because when others did he was so rude and annoyed about it. I also could barley read his handwriting and I could not understand his accent, if you want to fail math take this professor. I also would have to just scribble down my notes because he goes so fast.

I guess it's all personal preference bc I think he's great! He explains math as if I know NOTHING which is just want I need. Very thorough and clear. I actually had him before and dropped him but this was back when I didn't take school seriously. If you want to actually learn, not just pass, he is the best. Highly educated and loves rock music.

The WORST professor I have ever had! Class was intermediate algebra and he did not explain well. When asked a question he just looked annoyed and repeated himself. He was EXTREMELY RUDE. He sent an email to the entire class and we all agreed that we could not believe that this was coming from a professor. DO NOT take this prof. He will break you.

I got a 92 in this class, even after failing 2 tests. If you show up to class and also STUDY on your free time you will have no problem getting an A. Lots of Extra credit bonus problems, and he even takes off your lowest test grade. STUDY and don't be afraid to see a tutor and you will get an A!

Great teacher. Very understanding of student issues. He extended test and homework deadlines because of Hurricane Irma. I sent him three emails throughout the time period of the class, and he responded within a couple hours. He also foresaw where students could possibly stumble and sent out warning emails before students could get into trouble.

His accent and his handwriting make it pretty difficult to understand his lectures. He gave about half of the tests as take home tests, which is probably the only reason I passed.

He is a funny instructor that gives a lot of extra credit and drops your lowest test score. He also gives some take home tests.

Professor Yamamoto is easily the best professor at EFSC, I've taken him for everything from College algebra to Liberal Arts to Calculus. He turns complex topics into very simple terms and he's great at what he does. Yes he loves to talk about baseball and sometimes he'll ramble a bit but he's always interesting. 10/10 would always recommend.

Do. The. Suggested. Problem. #1 way to pass the class. If you need help speak up, he won't make you feel stupid. He has a super funny side and can get off topic if you let him. Be an adult and tell him what you need from him & you will do fine. He has an accent so that's a little hard but you get used to it. At least atempt the extra credit!

Great professor and I think it depends on an individuals learning style. I love straight forward teaching and focusing on things that actually matter for tests. I have taken others and with all of the EXTRA teaching they confuse me. I am not trying to be an engineer just want to learn what I need to pass and he does that well. He keeps it REAL!

Hands down the best math professor I have ever had. I was worried about taking a compressed math course over 6 weeks, when math is not my strong-suit, and made it through. I would not want any other professor to teach me mathamatics. He provides real world examples to the math to help you understand the material at a deeper level.

He's a nice guy. For the reviewer who called him Chinese, it shows how dumb that person is because he's Japanese. He's pretty laid back, and if you fail his class it's because you were too lazy and didn't ask for help. Yes he can be intimidating, but a lot of things in life are.

Well I really won't recommend him for anyway one. He really don't know how to explain or to deliver the information. Just to be clear he is an old fashion Chinese guy, and also he is the chair of the math department. He always keep saying my job is to prove not to teach, so when he grade the test he don't even looks at your work, just the answer.

There was a lot of homework, but not graded. Every week consisted of a quiz, which can be a good thing because this allows more forgiveness if you don't understand a section. Study & do the homework & you will pass.

The issue I have is that if you take the JOB of teaching students, then TEACH students! STAY Focused on the curriculum. Really wonder what this teachers failure rate is, is he trying to get students to pass or steal their hard earned MONEY by failing them!

Professor Yamamoto is a great teacher, he goes through a couple of sections a class and gives the class a chance to say if they need more time or to go over something again. You must speak up if you need help understanding or want to see more examples, he has no problem taking more time on a subject but if nobody speaks up, he will move on.

Dr. Y is a great professor. He is super smart and seems very serious but actually has a funny side. His lectures are short and sweet. He teaches you just what you need to know. DO THE SUGGESTED HOMEWORK PROBLEMS! They will literally be the same as on your exams. I am taking him again next semester for another math class!

He tells you exactly what to expect on each test and the final. He is sometimes confusing in class and moves really fast. I had to do a lot of studying but if you prepare the tests should be easy. He also gives many extra credit options that help your grade if you actually do them. Homework is optional. The final is just like the sample one.
