Professor Petry is a good Prof. she is very knowledgeable about what she is teaching and cares about the success of her students. there is a lot of assignments leading up to the term paper, but very manageable.

Comment:

Covers quite a bit in a class. She wants you to succeed and provides quite a few online resources for assignments. She knows a lot about history and is passionate about it. Some find lectures boring, but if you're interested in history, you'll be fine. She puts comics on her sign in sheets.

Very nice person and really cares about her students, but she IS what people imagine a boring history prof to be. Very monotonous, and made a really interesting subject so, so boring. I'm a history student, and she's the only history prof i refuse to take a class from again.

Yvonne is a great prof! She knows her material back and front, and can answer any question you have. Class can sometimes get slow, but her incredible grasp on the class content astonished me enough every time to keep me awake. I would definately take another class from her if I could!

Good content, it was a fairly interesting class to attend (which you had to because you were marked for attendance.) Other than that marks came from a final, a paper, a proposal, a midterm, and a few easy class participation assignments. She gave a clear outline for the paper and feedback on proposal. Good prof, but be prepared to take lots of note

Her lectures contain a great deal of information and she relays it passionately. She's very easy to talk to, and she provided invaluable suggestions for the term paper. Beware: if you aren't up to elaborating on the midterm, your mark will certainly reflect that. The textbooks are much easier to understand after her lectures.

worst prof ever. dry lecturer, treats you like a child, course taught did not match description, i am a history major and she is the worst prof i've ever had. also, very technologically inept. gets frustrated easily. hard marker. do not recommend.

Petry is an amazing prof! She is NOT like a highschool teacher, and you can see the passion she has for her work. For those who thought this class was on witchcraft, your mistaken. It's witches AND Heretics. Go to ALL lectures though, because she uses the hour well. I didn't and only got a 65

The course material didn't match the course description, & she expects you to regurgitate what she believes, & not form opinions. Pretty close-minded, with a hidden Christian type of teaching (uses the word pagan a lot, and not just in historical context). I guess it is Luther College, but still...

It is a history class,not a lesson on the occult.Have realistic expectations as far as the content.The work load is pretty heavy for 100 level,however exams are very general.More mature students will respect and appreciate her for her extensive knowledge and high level of intellect. Kudos Yvonne!

Awesome prof, super nice lady, i took 100 from her and took 270 just becuase she was teaching it. WILL take another class from her. She does give ALOT of info out in class, but her exams are pretty easy, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

the topics discussed were somewhat interesting, too much info was presented to really grasp any one overall theme. She was very unapproachable, and even when I had made an appointment to discuss a paper, she made me feel as though I was wasting her time, and did not help me to understand the topic.

Don't take the course descriptions at face value; the course about pirates went from Rome up until about the time piracy got going, spent maybe two days on pirates before the final. She doesn't seem to have much self-confidence. Decent enough prof though.

Entire class a fraud. It was on witchcraft and all we talked about was Jews and Catholics. I think she is a witch herself and put hexes on everyone. She loves group work and marks hard. You need to write papers and exams from her views, use alot of dates.

Very nice, and easy to get along with. You CANNOT talk in her class, she DOES NOT like talking AT ALL!!! She takes the class very seriosuly (she's kinda nerdy), but good marks are relatively easy to get. Recommmend her to any HST 100 students.
