Dr. Serpell was great. She knows the subject well and explains very clearly. If you go to class, take notes, and read from the textbookyou should have no problems. 3 tests, Movie paper, and debate. She allows the retaking 1 of the 3 tests during finals week if you do poorly. On the debate you only get to pick topic and not side, keep that in mind.

If you read and take notes you will do fine in this class. She does not always clearly explain the assignments in class, but they are always spelled out either in the syllubus or on blackboard. One debate, three tests, and a movie paper. Very interesting class and she is personable.

Dr. Serpell really knows her stuff. Her grades are from 3 tests, a presentation, a paper, and a grading assignment. She is not clear in her directions, I had to redo a couple of assignments because she didn't explain the material. She says she is wants the concepts until you get the test and it's all a bunch of specifics. I wouldn't take her again.

She is not a bad teacher, but its very hard to get an A in the class. I did all the work and kept ending up with B's and B+'s. Overall, the class was pretty easy and not a lot of work, and she knows her stuff well.

serpell is awesome...she's obviously very passionate and makes a genuine effort to invlove the class in her lectures. lectures can get long, and yes she doesnt provide the notes. study for the tests- alot. very fair professor. take her!

Good professor, easy to listen to, and fun. Make sure you speak out in discussions so she doesn't think your sleeping. She does have an attendance policy, but I've missed five classes and she hasn't marked me absent for one. She focuses more on concepts and not specifics.

I really enjoyed this class and liked this professor a lot. Her lectures are pretty interesting (esp if you are into psychology) and she really gets the class involved. She goes very fast with the notes and does not post any of it on blackboard. There were 3 tests that weren't that hard and 3 media papers that were tedious but pretty easy. I lo

Media papers are stupid and the guidelines aren't very clear. Tests are very specific from the book. No project but there is a debate which sucks. Do the study guides from the textbook websites. She's not too bad of a teacher. Really hard to get an A, though.

She takes a lot of questions from the book, and they aren't just general questions...very specific questions. Her debates are kinda random and the class grades you so it depends a lot on that. All she makes you write 3 media papers that almost everyone go an 8/10 on. Easy to get a B, hard to get an A.

This class was pretty good. There were only 3 exams and no final.If you do bad on one of the tests she gives you an opportunity to make it up during finals week. Debates-graded by the class and were really interesting. You can tell that Serpell really wants everyone to succeed.The exams are primarily from her notes, a few questions from the book.

Her tests arnt too bad, study for the first ones right off the bat though, i found the first one to be the most difficult. If you botch a test, she gives you the opportunity to retake one during exam week. She has the cutest accent. Id recommend her
